Story
Her role as Alexis Carrington Colby in Dynasty brought her to peak stardom, a role which might have been created for the tempestuous, strong-willed, and passionate woman that she is. As might be expected, in this memoir, she tells the truth; from her romantic adventures - sometimes desirable, sometimes disastrous - with some of the most famous and interesting men in the world, to the inside story of her fascinating and erratic acting career. Joan Collins candidly divulges her past imperfect in a book that is, like herself, outspoken, witty, daring, and full of life.

Baggage chronicles the actor’s life in Hollywood and the ways in which work has repeatedly whisked him away from personal calamities to sets and stages around the world. Taking us through the highs and lows of his career, his struggle with mental health, each failed relationship or encounter with a legend (Liza! X-Men! Gore Vidal! Kubrick! Spice Girls!), every bad decision or moment of sensual joy, Cumming shows how every experience - good or bad - has shaped who he is today: a happy, flawed, vulnerable, fearless middle-aged man, with a lot of baggage.

Story
Sheila Hancock looked like she was managing old age. She had weathered and even thrived in widowhood, taking on acting roles that would have been demanding for a woman half her age. She had energy, friends, a devoted family, a lovely home. She could still remember her lines. So why, at 89, having sailed past supposedly disturbing milestones—50, 70 even 80—without a qualm, did she suddenly feel so furious? Shocking diagnoses, Brexit and bereavement seemed to knock her from every quarter. And that was before lockdown.

These films made Hayley a genuine teen idol and a household name. Now, and for the first time, Hayley reveals the truth of her own coming-of-age story, in her own words - a story of incredible twists of fate and fortune, but also mismanagement, bankruptcy, family crisis and dislocation.

Story
I love stories. I have mostly told other people's, but now, in telling my own, I realise how all our stories are connected by that great leveller of acclaim, loss, fortitude and fortune: being human. When I look at my life from the alleged halfway point, some patterns are revealed: one, that the story does not necessarily begin or end where it should; two, happy endings are overrated. And three, happy endings are almost never the end. This book is memoir-ish. A tell-most. Largely because there's a lot I don't remember, and a lot that's not worth talking about.

Summary
THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
The one and only autobiography by the iconic Lucille Ball, hailed by TV Guide as the “#1 Greatest TV Star of All Time.”
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.
The story of the ingenue from Jamestown, New York, determined to go to Broadway, destined to make a big splash, bound to marry her Valentino, Desi Arnaz. In her own inimitable style, she tells of their life together—both storybook and turbulent; intimate memories of their children and friends; wonderful backstage anecdotes; the empire they founded; the dissolution of their marriage. And, with a heartfelt happy ending, her enduring marriage to Gary Morton.
Here is the lost manuscript that her fans and loved ones will treasure. Here is the laughter. Here is the life. Here’s Lucy...
“The comic actress in her own words…intensely moving.” —San Francisco Chronicle
“Filled with light and laughter.” —New York Times Book Review

Fascinating
Having listened to biographies of Lucy and Desi, to hear Lucy’s own words read by her daughter was really fascinating as it both contradicted and confirmed much of what one has heard. It’s such a shame it stops at Redhead on broadway but it’s a completely absorbing listen.

Pleasant Surprise
I really enjoyed listening to a book Lucille Ball wrote privately that was narrated by her daughter. Her daughter also adds some of her own insight into it which I enjoyed. I always find it interesting to see how many people think Hollywood stars are and what they are actually more like. Whether that be that the star themself thinks or the person writing their bibliography with extensive insight and research.
This was an Audible Daily Deal and I am so glad I snagged it. I finished it in one listen, learned a lot, and have recommended it to several people. One of my favourite books of 2019.

I DO Love Lucy!
I thoroughly enjoyed this tape!!! I didn't really enjoy the parts wherein she speaks of ALL the films, etc. she had been involved with. I really liked the autobiography of her life, upbringing,& personality traits that made her the success that she was. I could identify with the persistence, needs, hunger, and determination to succeed! I truly loved the show as a kid and reruns as an adult, and I will still watch them today when I see them advertised on the tv. I WAS surprised at the depth of Desi. I had only heard about his womanizing! He was really intelligent, sensitive, and compassionate about his life, his business dealings, and the people around him. I even enjoyed the other shows after the I Love Lucy series. She was truly a great comedian and a good actress- right up there with Katherine Hepburn!
