Editor reviews

Author Don Easton worked undercover for 20 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a fact that informs his Jack Taggart Mysteries about a Mountie who works under a seedy, false identity. The books are realistic and revealing, relentless in unveiling the dark underbelly of Canadian crime. Being a police office in plain clothes is one thing; becoming a criminal is another. Loose Ends is Easton's first book in the Taggart series. Though he encounters some first-time author stumbles, the end result is both gripping and grisly. Actor and AudioFile Earphones Award-winner David Drummond softens some of the shocking scenes without compromising the overall verisimilitude of this dark debut.

Summary

Jack Taggart, an undercover Mountie, lives in a world where the good guys and the bad guys change places in a heartbeat. Taggart is very good at what he does. Too good to be playing by the rules. The brass decide to assign a new partner to spy on him.Taggart's new partner discovers a society dependent upon unwritten rules. To break these rules is to lose respect. To lose respect is to lose one's life. Loose Ends is terrifying. It is a tale of violence, corruption, and retribution, but it is also a story of honour and respect.

disconcerting

the narration was very distracting in a complicated storyline. not credible female accents and confusing for the multiple males. the narrator would have been better just reading. i shall probably READ book 2

Moronic narration makes it hard to follow the story

He makes all the characters sound utterly stupid or retarded. He has no fluency so it’s impossible to follow.

I’m pretty sure the story is fine but the narration makes it unbearable.

Why oh why do these types of narrator get commissioned to wreck audio books?
