Another cracking good story from David Hewson

The next chapter in the Amsterdam series. You can listen as a stand alone story but why not start from the beginning!

I like the Amsterdam police in this story, they are straightforward and not too hung up on their personal lives. The story is the centre with few distractions.

The story is fast paced, with interesting twists and turns. Saul Reichlin is a great narrator and I like the consistency of the same narrator for each book.

🤔 …..difficult one

I enjoyed the journey but became confused with all the different characters so kept losing the thread. Narration good on the whole except female voices and had trouble telling the characters apart at times, have enjoyed Hewson’s other books more.

Make Sure you Read in the Correct Order

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you like Hewson's other books you will love this one

Any additional comments?

I made the mistake of listening to Little Sister First, the Audible site has them in the incorrect order, this is in fact book 3 so it has ruined it a little for me.

Crime fiction at its best

An Ingenious plot, tantalising twists, convincing characterisation, tragic denouement: all delivered consummately by Saul Reichlin.

Brilliant!

Great listening, weaves like in a maze, you think you are getting the answer only to find that there is more to the puzzle. Narrator really good too, weaves the tale convincingly - still guessing at the end! However you do find out !😊

Another classic Henson

An excellent brooding crime story which sees the detective Pieter Vos challenged by a complex case which centres on twin sisters who were convicted of murder and institutionalised at the age of eleven. Now a decade on they have escaped and opened a wasps nest that question’s what really happened. Another page turner from this amazing author.

Vos closes an historical case

His department's famous old case comes alive when 2 angelic sisters, in juvenile care, escape from being monitored in a hostel. This sets off a series of killings, as history corrects itself. Vos battles against obstructive colleagues and lack of assistance from an isolated community. Story well developed and told. Enjoy!

Brilliant book

I am just loving these books. I started them because I had enjoyed Hewson’s Roman series, but these are a better read in some ways are you are not distracted by the setting so much. Our hero is a damaged individual with a refined sense of justice and his female sidekick an intelligent and spontaneous woman who feels herself to be an outsider.
The case this time was as intricate and tragic as one has come to expect, dealing with sordid corruption in several areas of society.

Thank you to a wonderful narrator whose measured tones and accurate pronunciation of English made listening such a pleasure.

Not a fan

The story failed to get me really engaged, a lot of words for what seemed a thin storyline. I still find Saul Reichlin’s impersonation of female voices almost infuriating - he makes all females sound as if they had the age and intellectual capacity of 5 year olds...
