Summary

Au cœur de l’Oklahoma des années 1930, les petits exploitants agricoles se font racheter de force leurs terres et se retrouvent aux abois. Mais, miracle, l’appel de la Californie retentit : ses fruits savoureux à cueillir, son coton à récolter et son grand besoin de main-d’œuvre. Toute la famille Joad se serre dans un pick-up pour atteindre cet eldorado avec le rêve d’y faire fortune. La Route 66 est longue, les dollars manquent rapidement, les grands-parents tombent malades, le véhicule les lâche... Enfin arrivés, les Joad déchantent : le travail manque et ils sont des milliers à en chercher. Alors que la faim les tenaille, seule la mère tient bon et pousse les siens à garder espoir. Mais est-ce seulement possible ?
