Story
"Thank goodness you're such a plain child. You'll have to rely on your wits." So went the words of Grandma Bebe. And for all of my growing-up years, I scoffed at the beauty of my sister and what I saw as her meaningless existence. But my wits hadn't served me well in this instance, for here I was, in jail. And while I could have seen it as carrying on the family tradition (Grandma Bebe landed in jail for her support of Prohibition), the truth is, my reasons for being here would probably break her heart."

Summary
Having returned to Chicago, young socialite Anna Nicholson can't seem to focus on her upcoming marriage. The new information she's learned about her birth mother continues to pull at her, and she hires Pinkerton detectives to help her find the truth. But as she meets people who once knew her mother and hears stories about the past, Anna soon discovers that some secrets are better left hidden.
At the same time, unflattering stories about Anna are leaked by someone who would love to see her disgraced and her engagement broken. And as Anna tries to share her faith with her society friends, she understands that her choice to seek God's purpose for her life isn't as simple as she had hoped.
When things are at their darkest, Anna knows she can turn to her grandmother, Geesje de Jonge, back in Holland, Michigan. Geesje's been helping new Dutch immigrants, including a teen with a haunted past, adjust to America. She only hopes that her wisdom can help all these young people through the turmoil they face.

Amazing story
Amazing story. But the performance was not satisfying. One reader I had to speed up while the other to slow Down. The voice of keisha's interpreter when being other characters was too loud while her character I could barely hear. I had to constantly adjust the volume.

Legacy of Mercy
Lynn Austin is the most gifted writer I have ever read!! This book was no exception!! The narrating , every voice was perfectly matched to the character! From beginning to end the story held me captive as I entered into the places and lives of the people she created !!! I have purchased all of Lynn books to give as presents to my friends for Christmas and birthdays ! I want them to be swept away into another time and place as I have been through Lynn Austin !

Legacy of Mercy
I listened to this one
First not knowing it was a sequel. Fell in love with the characters, and the way they were developed. I listened to the 1st book, “Waves of Mercy”, after Legacy of Mercy, and was just as delighted with it! I reread or re-listen to her books over and over and
discover something new each time. She never disappoints!! Very well done!

The Christ-Likeness in several of the characters is beautiful strong...making the contrast with the struggles of our woundedness very real particularly as the characters receive healings.

Wonderful!!
This is without a doubt the best faith based story I have listened to in a long time. The first book in the sequel was great, but the narration could have been better. The narration in the 2nd book was fantastic! The deep faith of the characters was very inspiring and Bible quotes were wonderful. I couldn't put it down because this story took many twists and turns. I was hoping there was a third book! Enjoy!!
