Summary
Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, creation of the CWA Diamond Dagger award-winning author Peter James, faces his most engrossing case yet in Left You Dead.
Niall and Eden Paternoster start their Sunday the same way they always do - with a long drive, a visit to a country house and a quick stop at the local supermarket on the way home.
But this Sunday ends differently - because while Niall waits and waits in the car park for Eden to pick up supplies, Eden never returns. She’s not waiting for him at home, and none of their family or friends have heard from her.
Gone without a trace, Niall is arrested on suspicion of her murder. When DS Roy Grace is called in to investigate, it doesn’t take long to realize that nothing in this case is quite as it seems....
Left You Dead is the seventeenth thrilling crime novel in the Roy Grace series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with Dead Simple, Looking Good Dead and Not Dead Enough.
Now a major TV series starring John Simm.
Critic reviews
"Peter James has penetrated the inner workings of police procedures, and the inner thoughts and attitudes of real detectives, as no English crime writer before him." (The Times)
"Peter James is one of the best British crime writers." (Lee Child)
"One of James’ most emotionally engaging books." (The Mirror)

Really not a Cleo fan
This book should come with a trigger warning. One of the side plots is very triggering.
I have really come to despise Cleo, she gives step parents a bad name, he's our son when he's good but Roy's son when he's bad.

One of his best! Loved it!
Superb story full of twists and turns, just desserts and a horrifying shock in the middle.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. So much so, that I'm going to listen to it again straight away!

Brilliant as always.
Listened to all of Peter James’s Roy Grace books and loved them all. Like getting to know the characters. The narrator is the best although I couldn’t listen to him in another book as I completely relate him to Grace. I don’t like giving the stories away in a review but this was an interesting one.

The Best Grace Yet?
This is definitely Peter James on top form.
Pleased with myself that I had spotted a possible alternative scenario,I then discover a number of twists and turns to keep you guessing.
His feud with his old nemesis also appears to be moving in the right direction but who knows!
There are plenty of loose ends and potential plot developments to lead nicely into the next instalment of the Grace series which cannot come too soon.

Back to the Grace we all love.
Hallelujah! I couldn't put this book down. Grace is back! After the last book, I was worried that Peter James had lost his touch but I can confirm this book is outstanding. You will be gripped from the beginning to the end. Fast and furious the story takes you through twists and turns, leaving you guessing to the end. Marks out of ten? Well, it's a ten from me.

Intricately detailed plot and superb narration
Loved it. Incredibly detailed plot. Believable. Very sad sub plot too. Lots of family and character detail which makes it more real. Obviously very carefully researched re police procedure etc.
