Jacques Prévert se laissa convaincre d'enregistrer lui-même quelques-uns de ses textes. Il le fit "naturellement", sans ôter sa cigarette, ce qui explique une diction assez particulière. Dits par l'auteur, ces poèmes ont la nudité de l'enfance, le goût du fruit défendu, les parfums des fleurs sauvages, la vivacité des mauvaises herbes chères à Brassens, et la couleur sanguine des pommes d'amour à la fête foraine.
