Summary
The first official Knightfall tie-in novel, charting the Templars' adventures after the Fall of Acre.
Following the Fall of Acre, Landry, Godfrey, and the other survivors of the siege flee in a sailboat across the Mediterranean. Drifting for weeks, they try to land on Cyprus only to run into a dangerous Mamluk detachment. Running dangerously low on supplies, they are forced to take to the seas once more.
Trying to land on the coastline of Turkey, they are ambushed by pirates and taken captive. Incarcerated on a remote island compound, Landry, Godfrey and the other Templars must plan their escape before all hope is lost.

Crusader adventure
I bought this book on the strength of the narrator James Langton who did a great job with the Hellequin series, and because I loved the author's Thieftaker series. I was not aware this was a follow up to a tv series but this was not a problem. The story pics up after the fall of Acre as a group of Templars and refugees flee the city, presumably the events of the tv series. As a result you are thrown into an established group but the author does a great job of quickly getting you to know them, I immediately felt an affinity for the characters and enjoyed a well written adventure. i look forward to more.

a bad attempt to write a pirate story in a medieval setting.
If one has only a minimal knowledge of the Knights Templar one will not be able to abstract from all the errors in this story. It's a pathetic attempt to drag a medieval environment down over a simple pirate story. Replace the rom (rom ???? there was no rom in the European Middle Ages) with gunpowder and give people hats with feathers on, then you would have a mediocre pirate of the Caribbean story..
It’s not worth using you time on …

A Great Idea
This book is based on my favorite series and covers the parts that happened off screen like the transition between Acre and France. The narrator has done an excellent job and he actually sounded as though he were in pain. He did give Gawain a Scottish accent instead of a British one that threw me a little bit off track, but at least it was legitimate. Lastly, the maltreatment of the protagonists was pretty negative to say the least.
