Story
If I were on fire, she’d break out the marshmallows. It’s not that we don’t like each other, more like hate with the fury of a thousand suns. But it wasn’t always that way. I still remember how her lips tasted. How they felt pressed against mine. How I wanted more. How I still crave her. Our disastrous night together ended with her storming out, me wondering if I’d ever be able to show my face on campus again and us as bitter enemies. When a campus competition is announced to find the most in love couple, she’s the last person I thought I’d turn to for help.

I walked in on her interview session for potential candidates (who even does that?) and saw straight through her brave front. After a blow out in high school, Makenna Halstead and I were happy to never have to cross paths again. Except life has a way of knocking you straight in the teeth with a puck when you least expect it. She hasn’t just returned to my life, she crashed into it like a wrecking ball...into my college kingdom, into my class, and smack dab into the seat next to mine. My new lab partner to be exact.

I didn't mean to star in a sex tape, okay? It was just one of those unexplainable things. Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds. It just happened. Now, my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston's nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan. The virginal archer is supposed to babysit my ass while I learn to take my place in Royal Pipelines, my family's oil company. Little does she know, that's not the only pipe I'll be laying....

Story
Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

It started with one night out with the boys. She was the hot diner waitress putting herself through school. I was the rich, arrogant player everyone misjudges. On paper, we didn’t match. Yet all it took was one day. One single day to change her mind. She wasn’t planning to spend her day off with me. She wasn’t supposed to fall for my charm. But one day, one smile, turned into several nights of her calling out my name. I’m not the guy she should end up with. I’m jealous, possessive. Not here for a long time - just a good time. She’s changed me.

I wanna go back to high school
- By Desire Oosthuizen on 30-01-21
Summary
"Wouldn't most guys love a no strings attached hook up?"
"Maybe, but most guys don't deserve you. I want to be one who does. And I want to be all tangled up in your strings."
Newly arrived on campus, I knew two things. 1) No one could know my dad was the president of the university and 2) football players were bad news.
My run in, the literal kind, with my neighbor cranked up the heat and sparks flew. A new college campus. A secret bound to explode in my face. And a football player neighbor who is bad news in the best of ways. Reid Riddick was hotness personified, so of course I literally ran into with him - well, more like he plowed into me. I didn’t know he was a football player when I started falling and now I can’t stop. A stolen kiss later and my heart races whenever he looks at me from across the quad.
But my secret would spell disaster for him.
I’m the daughter of the college president. The college president who’s been feuding with his football coach for years. Their bitter campus war leaves us teetering on the edges of a divide we can’t see a way across. Resisting him is more than I can handle. He’s risking it all for me. His team standing. His football season. His pro future.
Throw in a campus gossip site. My out of control new friends. His way too hot roommates. College traditions. A secret campus bar and the only guy who’s ever made me feel like he can’t live without me. And I have one last secret.
Our star-crossed love is my first and I want him to be mine.

A new college series for your ears
I’m a huge fan of Maya Hughes and her writing and was really pleased when I heard that she was bringing out a new college-set American football series. This time we’re at St Francis University (aka STFU) in Pennsylvania. This team were the main rivals to Fulton University, from Hughes’ previous series. This is a completely clean break from those books, however, and this one stands alone with its own HEA. For this audiobook we have Stephen Dexter reading Reid and Desiree Ketchum reading Leona.
Leona is our heroine and I liked her from the moment she ran into Reid. She was a nerdy heroine who was sociable, fun and had the right amount of hangups to make her relatable. She was also a teeny, tiny bit unsure of herself which was definitely endearing. She had problems, sure, but she was never a whiner. She also stood up for herself when the chips were down - and I couldn’t help but admire her for that. She was someone I was rooting for from the moment she stepped on the page. Desiree does a believable job as Leona and I liked her voice. She doesn’t just act the part but she goes above and beyond - adding in little touches that gives you a fuller picture of conversations, emotions and thoughts. Top notch.
From the time he first bumps into Leona - literally - Reid is smitten. It was actually kind of adorable how flustered and tongue-tied he becomes around her, especially since it’s a completely foreign experience for him. Reid is all about football and is practically a God on campus which he’s definitely used to his advantage. He’s not a player but he definitely has more experience than Leona. Despite that, it’s Reid that’s more nervous in their encounters which again, was really sweet. I’ve heard and enjoyed Stephen Dexter’s performances before and this one was no different. Like Desiree, he fully acts out the part of Reid, shouting and all, which helped me to really connect with the character. I was less keen on his higher pitched portrayal of Leona (and other female voices) but it was in no way offensive or annoying.
With all the sweetness, you might be surprised to hear that Reid and Leona together were electric. They had enough chemistry to give me that lovely ‘butterflies in the stomach’ feeling every time that they were together. It didn’t hurt that their relationship was secret, so there was a lot of quick grabs, throw each other against the nearest surface, kisses and encounters. My favourite kind, if I’m honest!
I liked that the reasons why Reid and Leona couldn’t - or should’t - be together were completely believable. It would have been easy to go with a flimsy reason but this one felt solid. There were also little extras to do with the backgrounds of both Reid and Leona - mainly to do with their families. There was nothing overly consuming and it helped build up a better picture of our main characters.
As this is the beginning of a new series, we get to meet most of our main players for the rest of the books. This can feel like a lot of characters and information but things started to sort themselves out as I read. I can see why some readers might find this book lacking in comparison to the Fulton U books, but I loved it and I really do think that once the rest of the series comes out, coming back and reading this story will give people more love for Reid and Leona as we’ll hopefully continue to see them in the other guys’ stories. Even more so, from reading the book to listening to the audio, I feel I have a better understanding of the characters. Or perhaps it’s just by spending time with these characters again, I know and love them more.
I love Maya Hughes writing - she gives me just the right amount of drama, romance, sex, love and angst to ring all my bells. She has a way of writing characters that feel so alive that I almost feel I’m reading about friends rather than people from someone’s imagination. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Maya Hughes or this will be the first read of hers, I would highly recommend this book. It’s got everything you need for a satisfying, first in the series, listen.

Audio:
A super slow start and it took quite a bit for me to really engage with the story and characters. I don’t think I was fully invested, even the whole way to the end.

A fun start to a new series
If you're looking for a new sports romance series, let me rec this right quick. It's angsty, it's a wee bit forbidden, it's well written and there's a bunch of really likeable side characters that will get their own books down the road. STFU is the rival school to MH's other series Fulton U and Leona and Reid will steal your hearts. They are adorable together. I can't wait to get more from this series. I volunteered to listen to a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Great intro for a new sport romance series!
I absolutely devoured this audiobook, it was even more entertaining than the ebook version. It amazes me how stories change when we have a different method to read it, 100% love the audible version more than the paperback. Don't get mw wrong both are great, it's just that this version was a whole new level of amazingness!

Loved it! Great start to a new series!
I recently had the opportunity to listen to the audio of Kiss and Tell by Maya Hughes and I could not stop listening. Narrated by Stephen Dexter and Desiree Ketchum, this story introduces us to the St. Francis U world and I am all here for it. Up first is Reid and Leona and I just loved them. Reid’s life has been all about football. He has a plan and needs no distractions. Then he meets Leona and he can’t stop thinking about her. Leona has a secret. She is the daughter of the President of the university, the same man who has a hate/hate relationship with the football coach. Not really a match made in heaven, but the heart wants what it wants.
I just loved these two. They had a great connection and chemistry from the start and I loved reading their interactions. They were just so adorable together. But circumstances that surround them means they may not be together, right? But what happens when they can no longer deny what they feel? I loved Kiss and Tell by Maya Hughes. It was a great introduction to this new world and I am so excited to see what is next this group of football players!
Happy listening!

So excited for this new series! A great start!!
Squeeeeeee!!!!! A new college football series from Maya Hughes! I can’t handle it! I immediately fell for Leona and Reid. I loved how they literally ran into each other and the sparks just flew and never settled. Leona has some secrets through. She’s the daughter of the president of the college. The president has been feuding with the school’s football coach. Seems like no biggie until you find out Reid is a football player. BTW none of this is spoilers, it’s all in the synopsis. Anyways, Leona also made a promise not to date a football player. And wouldn’t this be the way it goes?!?!
I could not handle their banter and fun. The close group of players all had my heart and I am absolutely giddy with the prospect of having all these guy’s story. Anyways, this is a steamy romance with a forbidden aspect with secret rendezvous. However, it’s also a slow burn and makes you yearn for that first kiss because Hughes makes you wait for it! The narrators, Stephen Dexter and Desiree Ketchum are magnificent! They both added this element of emotion to the story that you would miss by reading it.

Great series start
Kiss and Tell, the first in a new series jam-packed with everything I expect from Maya Hughes. As the first couple in the series, Reid and Leona have set the bar high. Their story is super sweet and just as sexy. It's a bit of a when you know, you know kind of love, and these two certainly know - even when they pull away to keep their secrets. True to form, Maya gives us all the feels, from laughs to swoon to heartache, it's all there in spades as this couple figures things out. They have terrific chemistry, and that conclusion was absolutely perfect (no spoilers, you'll have to see for yourself). So, here we are with a brand-new series, and we're off and running. In addition to this lovable couple, there are some great secondary characters who I'm sure will get their turn, and I can't wait.
That's what I had to say when I read the ebook of Kiss and Tell - so yes, I knew what was going to happen before it happened, every twist, every heartache, every swoon-worthy bit, even the blood, sweat, and tears on the football field. Did that lessen my enjoyment of it? Not a bit. I already enjoyed the story, and Stephen Dexter and Desiree Ketchum just added an extra layer to it. The story is done in dual POV narration, and both narrators give a terrific performance. From Maya's sarcasm and wit to all the feels in this love story, Dexter and Ketchum capture all of it, and it comes through loud and clear. So, Kiss and Tell was already a great story, now it's also a great audiobook, and I'll be revisiting both versions when I need some sexy romance.

Kiss and Tell (St. Francis U #1) is a star crossed love that is scrumptious. I adored Reid Riddick and Leona Larson-Oakes characters and their chemistry. The supporting character's are fantastic. I really liked Reid and Leona's dads. The writing style is captivating and the character's development is well fleshed. I enjoyed the plot and the lego aspect of the story. Friendships, romance, sports and campus life captured in a exciting read. The epilogue was perfect. Im looking forward to listening more books in this series.
Stephen Dexter, Desiree Ketchum dual narration was excellent. Together they made the story come alive. Showcased the characters emotions really well. Both are awesome narrators

Forbidden relationship
What would you do if you found the one person who understood you like no other then found out it would be impossible to be together? This is where Reed a new Leona find themselves. People in their lives would definitely not be on board with their relationship. But the pull between them is too strong to ignore. There is a lot of things that happen to this couple through this book. I was pulling for them every step of the way. Each of them has goals coming into this book and things change as they go along. Leona finds that traditions at St Frances university are many and strange but fun none the less. I cannot wait for more of this series and these characters. Many of the supporting cast NEEDS their own stories.

Sports romance done right!
I absolutely love this story! I read the ebook first and couldn't wait to listen to the audio. It didn't disappoint. I fell in love with Reid, Leona, and all of their friends all over again.
This story drew me in from the very beginning. The characters are interesting on their own, each with struggles to overcome but they are also funny and full of personality. Add in their star crossed lovers status, and I couldn't stop reading!
I was equally invested in their friends and all the shenanigans they got up to. It really made the perfect series starter, because I was completely invested in their stories and can't wait for each of them to get a book! Leona's roommates were the best kind of friends pushing her to have fun and having her back when needed. The boys from the zoo (the house Reid shared with fellow football players) were amazing friends and each completely unique. They were there to help Reid see the bigger picture and had his back.
The narration was also really well done. I enjoyed hearing these characters brought to life and will listen again in the future.

Enjoyable start to the series!
Maya Hughes is one of my absolute favorite authors, so I was excited to dive into Kiss and Tell, the first book of the St. Francis U series. And I thought it was a great way to kick off the series! I've both read and listened to the story now, and I really enjoyed getting to know Reid and Leona and watching their relationship develop. They were obviously attracted to each other from that first meeting, but Leona is hesitant to start anything with anyone (with who her father is on campus)......and Reid knows that football players getting involved with anyone can lead to some serious consequences (because of the jerk they have for a coach). But these two keep finding themselves around one another and give in to their feelings.
I do think the first part of the story moved a little slower for my tastes, and it took me longer to get fully invested in the story. But once it picked up, I couldn't stop reading. I am definitely curious about all the side characters that we were introduced to, and I really hope there's a comeuppance for the coach.
Overall though, I really did like the story and I thought Reid and Leona were great together. And with the added narration from Stephen Dexter and Desiree Ketchum, it really brought the story to life. Both narrators did a fantastic job with the characters, and I think had I listened to the story first - it would have definitely made me feel different about the story. Definitely looking forward to more in this series, as I'm super excited to see how she makes me fall for this group of characters, just like she did with the Fulton U gang.

Sweet and Steamy Sports Romance
“Nothing ever distracted me like this, but somehow she had.”
Nobody does college football like Maya Hughes!!! Kiss and Tell is the first book in a new series about St. Francis U which is Fulton U’s rival (so fun!). We’ve got a whole new group of football guys and I can’t wait to read each one of their stories.
“For once, I’d found someone I connected with as naturally as breathing, and she was the one person on campus who could derail everything I’d worked for.”
Kiss and Tell is Reid and Leona’s story. Reid prides himself on being totally focused on football. He refuses to allow any distractions in his life that could detour him from obtaining his goal to be in the NFL. However, when he “bumps” into Leona, that rule goes out the window. Instantly drawn to each other, Leona and Reid find it difficult to deny their attraction to each other, but when they realize that their relationship could affect other relationships and goals in their lives, can they remain just friends?
“I’d never felt this way about anyone before her and I didn’t want to find out if I could feel this way about anyone after her. I only wanted her.”
Reid and Leona are adorable. Their banter was so fun and their chemistry was on fire. They can’t stay away from each other and they have to learn how to stand up for themselves. I loved watching them realize what is important in life!
Stephen Dexter and Desiree Ketchum provide the narration for Reid and Leona. They are both wonderful and made the story come alive. I love how the emotion of the story was showcased in their voices.
Kiss and Tell is a wonderful start to a new series and Reid and Leona are perfection. This sweet, steamy, and beautiful story of love and acceptance has a lot of heart with a smidge of angst. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
