Summary

Jett Olsson isn’t looking for anything serious, and she’s not looking for anything at all, so why does it seem so hard to keep it professional?

I love my life - the thrill of being on the ice as part of the Arizona Vengeance, the rush of winning, the adoration of the fans. And if that adoration means I don’t have to spend the night alone, well even better. I’m content being single and always ready to mingle. But the day Emory Holland walks into a Vengeance team meeting, my attention is caught like never before. I can tell right away she’s full of smarts and sass, and the fact that she’s hot as hell sure doesn’t hurt either. She immediately shuts down my advances, so I opt for the road less traveled - straight to the friend zone.

My approach works like a charm, and when she invites me into her bed for a no-strings, friends-with-benefits arrangement, I vow to give her everything I have. She’s been hurt before, and if I’m able to help her heal while giving her a spectacularly satisfying time (pats self on back), then I’ll be happy. Or at least, that’s the lie I keep telling myself, as the time ticks down on the final buzzer of our “relationship”. Now the real question is, can I score the winning goal in a game neither of us realized we were playing?

I'm torn!

Where do I start with this review? This is a hard one for me as I'm torn.

I feel terrible writing this but I only ever write honest reviews.

I love the author's style of writing. I liked the characters even though Emery was frustrating to me the way she judged Jett based on other men. Their relationship was sweet and I liked the interactions between Jett and Felicity. But I found the ending abrupt and I was left with many unanswered questions - I hate that.

As for the narration: I found it extremely hard to listen to even though I normally like the narrators. The accents were fake and made my listening experience difficult.

the good guy finds love

A single hockey player who isn’t a ‘playah’…yes, the anomaly is Jett. Jett’s a great guy and is contented to play hockey and do good deeds…queue the heavenly music! Then he meets Emory at a team meeting and gets hit by cupid’s bow. Unfortunately for Jett, while Emory is attracted to him, she has other priorities and they preclude her from dating. It’s fun watching Jett wear down Emory and we get a great HEA! Looking forward to more ‘Vengeance’!

Jett Powered!

Jett by Sawyer Bennett
Jett Olsen is happy with his lot in life. Playing for a top ice hockey team, The Vengence, where it’s more like family than colleagues? Check! Gorgeous, Viking looks? Check! Adoring fans? A different lady each night with no strings attached? Check & Check what else could one ask for? Definitely not a gorgeous and sexy single mother, Emory Holland! After his advances are turned down and he’s friend-zoned, like a moth to a flame, Jett's attention is piqued. Will Jett be ok with his no strings attached attitude he’d enjoyed before her? Or will her British wit and lovely daughter, Jett has grown fond of, score the winning goal in his heart?

I love Sawyer bents writing and this latest serving is another great addition to the vengeance world BUT.
TOR THOM - Jett Olsen. At the first, I found Tor Thom a little nasally, but that soon dissipated and became more enjoyable and the fact Jet is Scandinavian and referenced as having a slight accent, tor’s standard American accent threw me off a little. Nothing major

EMMA WILDER - Emery Holland. OK. Let me first start by saying Emma wilder did a great job. She has a lovely voice and style however, as a Brit, I instantly knew she wasn’t one of us! certain words had the nails down a blackboard effect on me from both narrators to be fair. It’s the standard go-to accent some, non-British actors go with as the accent and rhythm of sentences doesn’t exist in England! And the use of certain words such as elevator instead of the lift. And so on Even if Emma’s accent has been slightly Americanised, it wouldn’t sound JD like that. It’s not exactly Don Cheadle in Oceans 11, so please do not be put off by my observation. RP English is not the easiest, even for some Brits.

Heartfelt story!

I adore Sawyer Bennett’s hockey romances. They’re full of sexy athletes, tight friendships that feel more like family, and so much emotion. And still, JETT surprised me. I wasn’t expecting a single mom romance. At all. And I loved that!

Jett Olsen is a charmer and a dedicated bachelor. He is far from ready to settle down, let alone tying himself to a woman with a child. Well, at least that’s his POV before he meets Emory. What starts as a mutually beneficial no-strings relationship, quickly turns into something much deeper. And, lord, I LOVED Jett’s interactions with Emory’s daughter. How he swept in to save the day when her biological father didn’t show … I might have had to blink away a tear or two. MAJOR swoon!

This book touches sensitive subjects, such as dealing with an addict, and the disappointment and heartache that comes along with it. It’s chock-full of tender and beautiful moments as the relationship between Emory and Jett evolves. There’s one other side character that stood out besides Emory’s daughter, and that’s her sister. I’m dying to get her story now. She deserves her own HEA. So much.

I love Emma Wilder and Tor Thom both individually, but unfortunately, I found the narration a bit off with this one. From the accents that weren’t always transported or sounding strange, especially with the male narration.

Overall, I still enjoyed this one and am ready for the next hockey player to meet his match.

That's an English accent?

Okay, this is a bit of a difficult one to review.
First of all, I ADORE this group of people. From the players to all their amazing families and the ladies that made them fall. On the other hand, I rarely read books set in a world for so long, with so many stories, because I also tire of the characters at some point, and am less hungry for their stories.
Jett is the typical "always single and ready to mingle, won't ever settle down" type of character who meets the woman who just won't give him the time of day, then works hard to get her, only to find out she is a mom, and he hates kids. Dilemma.
Their journey from opponents to working together, and slowly falling and figuring out how to trust others, and considering how to work as a family unit, is quite sweet, though a touch overly dramatic at times. The ending.. well. I was not expecting it, because it seemed quite abrupt,"aaand HEA".

Lastly, I listened to this as an audiobook. I enjoy Emma Wilder a lot, and while Tor Thom is not always my favorite, it was interesting as it started. But then started the British accents. Now, people come from all over, and speak different ways, but there were multiple words that sounded like the most fake, put on, over the top, snobbish, RP-like English accent, and it really took me out of it. I got so hung up on it, I kept hearing more sentences and instances that simply sounded so off, sadly from both of them. However, actually Emma Wilder was much better, and her male voice was strong as always. The weirdly accented words were even stronger from Tor Thom, and I somehow could not get into him as Jett, also with the Swedish accent coming in and out, it seemed a bit inconsistent, yet consistently weird on the English accent. I imagine if I had read it, this would not have impacted my rating as much.

I thought this was ok, despite this trope not being my personal favs even though I do still read them. I don't think I really cared too much about Emory's ex. I felt like he was shown way too late in the story and came out of nowhere. Jett took a bit to warm up to. I'm still continuing this series.

Narrators Emma Wilder, Tor Thom did an amazing job with the characters though.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Fabulous Story & Listen🎧 An Enthralling Delight!

Sawyer Bennett masters sports romance like no other and it reflects in her latest “Arizona Vengeance” novel. Each book features a difference member of the Vengeance Hockey team, the team is like a family so you will see characters reappear in each others books. The books can be enjoyed on their own but I highly recommend them all and starting from the beginning gives you a better understanding of the characters as they appear. Plus Sawyer Bennett has a way of making you fall in love with each one of her characters. And we are finally getting Jett Olsson’s story, the charismatic player who loves his game both on and off the ice. But everything he thought he did not want does not seem so bad after all. Emory Holland caught Jett’s attention the moment he laid eyes on her. She is the Vice President of Digital Marketing and Analytics for the Vengeance, a fairly new member of the team. One of her tasks is running the social media for the team as well as getting the players more recognition and followers. One of those players being Jett who never failed to hit on her, she blew him off every time. But he finds a way for her to have dinner with him, in her eyes it was a business meeting, in his eyes it was a date. When he goes to pick her up he learns there is more to her than he thought and not in a way he liked. Despite that the two wind up hitting it off and since neither is looking for more they kind of fall into a casual relationship. I loved how everything played out in this book, Jett grew so much as a person in this book, we got to see his sweet and caring side as well as his protective side. He was amazing with Felicity, one of my favorite scenes was the dance. There are so many great moments in this book, the story is beautifully plotted and contains a whole lot of heart. Sawyer Bennett, thank you for another fabulously entertaining and enjoyable story, I loved every minute of it.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Emma Wilder and Tor Thom are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They have a complete understanding of the characters they are portraying and sound believable in each role they play. Tor Thom’s Jett was spot on, he grasped his persona completely, showing his cocky alpha side at first and then his softer caring side. Emma Wilder played Emory with perfection, a strong confident woman, loved her Felicity too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. These fabulously talented narrators are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Great read

I love this series and Jett and Emory’s story was better than I was hoping for if that possible. It was believable and kept me interested. I love to read and listen to this wonderful story and addition to one of my favorite series. You couldn’t help but root for both these two to realize they belong together and could trust each other. Felony and Jenna are great additions to this story and also getting to visit with some old friends. Hoping we get to see more of Jenna. I can’t wait to get Riggs story, sawyer Bennett never disappoints and always keeps you wanting more. Emma wilder and tor thom are wonderful narrators

Falling for Jett!

How could Emory resist this man? From he very start of the book, Jett is shown to be a man that cares. He visits those who are recovering, and shows true compassion. But when it comes to his life, he is happy just playing hockey and a willing partner for the night. When he meets Emory, the VP of Digital Marketing, his life takes a turn. Not willing to date a co-worker and burnt in a previous relationship, Emory has no interest in the playboy hockey player. This just fuels Jett on. He will do what it takes to win a night with her. Now given the chance for a casual relationship, these two are hot and steamy! But do they realize where it's going? Are they willing to take a chance? Is Emory sheltering herself too much? Fun, sweet, passionate, what is not to like about this story? Jett is a fantastic character. He grows so much, and his interaction with Emory's sister and daughter is swoon worthy! Emory is a tough cookie but I love how Jett wears her down. We get glimpses of others we have come to know and love which is one of the best things about this series. The team is a family, and they all tease and care. Add in the past catching up with Emory, the story is given depth and realism. I love this series and can't wait to hear Riggs next!

Each of these players has such a different personality and Sawyer Bennett matches her narrators on point! Jett is sweet, yet has an alpha tendency. He wants to protect and love, and Tor Thom has the voice to bring him to life. His smooth baritone the perfect casting for Jett. Emory needs that little bit of Brit and Emma Wilder does it so well. Wilder is amazing when it comes to the emotional pull. Emory has a lot on her plate and goes through a range of feelings we all get to experience. This is a fantastic casting for this story
