Summary

A fortuitous encounter. A meeting that should never have happened.

Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever...

Salome knows only one way to live - under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence - the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.

Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.

River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life - he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six - much to his rivals’ delight.

Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw, and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.

Styx has one rule in life - never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot...a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go...

pure filth and a bit of fun.

okay it's not the best bit of writing ever, and it did make me laugh at points unintentionally due to the cheesy writing, but I liked it full of sex and fighting. great!

This is how MC romance is done!

MC romance isn’t my jam but I’ve had this series on my TBR for a long time and I do love Tillie Cole’s writing… She captures emotions so beautiful, and especially the raw and messy ones that leave you heart gaping.

I fell into this story from the go and at not time did I want up give. MC men are crass talkers and their lifestyle and code of conduct is not akin to us mere mortals…

This story is heart wrenching to say the least, and the plot was well executed overall. I had a few minor issues with the pacing and development, and eye-rolled several times over some things that happened mostly on the heroine’s part, but I understood her actions were from a good place and she’s naive to life outside the commune.

The narration was incredible, especially that for Styx. As much as this book was easy to read, the narration blew my mind. What’s not to love about broken hero and one with a speech impediment.

Like I already mentioned, I don’t read a lot of MC romance but for me- this is how it is done!

Loved it

I didn't know that I could fall for a hot mc that stutters but Tillie made me find it really hot. Emotional, gripping and steam this novel have it all. Check trigger warning and be prepared to hear men calling women the b word as a term of endearment throughout the book. I did hybrid reading (kindle and audiobook together) and it was superb, the narration was exceptional and you really felt it all.

great narration of an epic MC series

I loved this first book in this amazing series and it's been a good few years since I've read it, so when I found it here I just had to listen. It's a wonderful reflection of this much loved book, I enjoyed it so much I've just got the second book 😊

excellent narration

while both narrators are brilliant, J.F.Harding especially does a fantastic job or narrating this book and I recommend anyone to listen if you like this trope. there are some parts of the book where I questioned if the heroine would have moved so quickly into intimacy with her savior given her back ground but that's the only niggle I have and it's not stopping me from purchasing the next book in the series.

Best MC-series ever!

Such a unique story that will hold you hostage from the very beginning and make you salivate for more. All the feels with this one. I can not even begin to describe what a phenomenal job J.F Harding does bringing Styx to life ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Annie Green does a stellar job too.

Excellent narration gripping storyline

Gritty, violent, gripping and dramatic MC romance. Had me hooked. The narrators did a fantastic job, especially with conveying the H’s speech difficulties.

One of my all time faves

I honestly picked this book up completely at random and did I pick a winner or what? I've read this and most of the series twice now and it gets better every time. Styx is an incredible MC. Mae is such an inspiration. A little understandably naive, but this was a near perfect story if you like 'em dark. Check your triggers though.

Action and dark romance with many engaging characters.. great story!

I really enjoyed this book, I haven't read an MC story before but this caught my eye. The characters were engaging and drew me in. Mae and River had an endearing connection that started with a brief engagement when they were young. She's the tormented runaway who has endured so much at the compound where she and her sister's led a sheltered life and were brought up. He is a young handsome President of an MC withdrawn due to his speech impediment, yet confident in leading his MC, trusting the brothers who surround him and would die for him. When Mae and River meet again their connection rekindled once more, draws them to one another. Reading this makes want to find an MC (minus the killing, guns, and treatment of women if they're not head over heels in love with you!!). The passion is simmering rather than explosive, but that is expected i guess for someone who has experienced such a harrowing upbringing as Mae. I am excited to read the other MC brother's stories.. especially Ky, Flame and Ryder.

Not for the faint of heart

This MC romance is definitely hard core. Women are bitches, there are club whores, there's gun running, torture and murder. Unfortunately, that's not the worst of it.There is also a look into a religious cult that santions rape of 8 yr old girls. If you are sensitive or gave triggers, this isn't for you. That being said, there are also some wonderful characters that develop beautifully throughout the plot. The thesis seems to be that the human soul can overcome unbelievable adversity. Worth a credit, in my book.

Warning ~ Not For the Faint of Heart!

Wow! What an emotionally charged story!

I fell in love with the story and look forward to listening to the rest of the series; however, this was one of the darkest MC's I've listened too so far. It may not be for everyone.

Tillie Cole did an amazing job creating a heart wrenching story that captures the essence of the MC world, and the horrors of a depraved fanatical religious cult. Told from two POV's from different worlds, we follow the characters as they are reunited by chance, deal with the horrors from their past, hang on to each other with everything they have, and what one man will do to keep the love of his life.

Some spoilers:
Styx's whole life has revolved around the Hades Hangman MC. This club doesn't hold back, it's tough, crude, does illegal activities, and all the sex, drinking, and killing has shaped Styx's into one of the toughest MC's Prez. Due to a speech impediment, he's only been able to talk to three people, his dad, best friend and the young girl he's been obsessed with every since their unexpected meeting years ago. Because he doesn't talk around others, he's earned the scary reputation as the Hangman's Mute.

Mae was raised by a fanatical religious group, and due to her beauty, she was deemed a "cursed." As one of the cursed, it was believed they would more than likely sway a man from their righteous path. Due to these wrapped views, she suffered many horrors from an early age. Fearing for her life, she made a desperate attempt to escape, and was hurt badly. Barely alive, she found herself at the Hades Hangman's MC. Recognizing each other from years ago, a bound between Mae and Styx starts to grow. Styx would do anything to protect Mae, and she's never felt safe except with Styx.

While the journey for these characters was hard, intense and at times not easy to listen too, I found myself totally engrossed and unable to stop listening. The characters and plot were well thought out, developed, and had twist all through the story. This was one of the best MC's I've listened too; however, I have to warn you, it's dark, unapologetic, full of bad language, and has sexual abuse, but it's a story that will stick with you well after you finished it.

J.F. Harding and Annie Green's performance was AWESOME. Due to one of the main characters, this was not an easy story to narrate, but this dual nailed it. They really brought this story to life!

Definitely worth a credit!

YES!!! IT IS YOU BABE, FOR SURE 100% !!!

I am a big fan of Tillie Cole's, and I decided to start reading her Hangman Series, with "IT AIN'T ME BABE" being the first book in the series. I was hesitant at first, I do love a motorcycle club book and a Hot, Sexy, Bad Boy Motorcycle Man is always delicious, but a book with cults, and a club named after the Greek God Hades which is the Devil/Satan, had me feeling uneasy, but leave it to the Brilliant and Talented Writer/Author Our Tillie Cole to make everything blend and work well together to bring us readers a dark, twisty, romantic, edgy book that does not cross any lines or leave any feelings of uncertainty and/or uncomfortableness at all. Instead, a book that I enjoyed reading and enjoyed more by listening to and a series that I am looking forward to continuing on with the other books that follow.. Find your Motorcycle Man, hop on for a Dark, and Dangerous, Wild ride with Tillie Cole's Hangman Series!!!

PEDOPHILIA IN THE NAME OF RELIGION

The publishers summary is spot on. This is a very different MC series. Fitting that the MC's name is Hades Hangmen since they fight a religious cult.

I never give spoilers but I think people need a warning with this series. The cult, adult men, rape girls starting at the age of eight years old all in the name of religion. Of course, the men also have more than one wife.

This series is dark, gritty, and sometimes sick. I cringed through parts of the book. We learn a lot about how the girls/women are mistreated in the cult and there's talk about religion.

Tillie Cole has once again written an all consuming series. I also love her Scarred Souls series.

J.F. Harding and Annie Green gave a fantastic performance. Especially since Styx stutters. Annie's voice is perfect for the young girls she's portraying.

This is absolutely worth a credit if you like dark and gritty.

Good-ish

I found this book based on a recommendation from a book group I'm in. My opinion is that it was good-ish. I did like the story, I thought that it was great to have someone that had a disability as a main character, and I thought the whole polig thing was interesting and she definitely nailed that! I wasn't surprised to hear that they brainwashed and raped little girls, that's something the real life polig men do. Although it's a biker club, I found the use of "my bitch" excessive when they were talking about the women. I get it to a certain extent, but after so long, when they fall in love, when does my bitch become more of my woman. It wasn't until the very end that he finally called her his "old lady." Overall It was a good read, but I just wasn't dying at the chance to continue. I have several other books and authors that I just can't put down, and I was hoping for more here. I would recommend it to a friend, but probably not first before some others. I will continue to read this series to see how it pan's out.

A brilliant piece of writing!

This book displayed the best and worst parts of humanity. I loved the change in both main characters over time. May grew into a strong and lovely woman while Styx became a man both loving and protective. I will probably edit this review later but it was a freaking amazing book. It's difficult like people have said at certain points to listen to, but it was worth it. I hated that cult with a vicious passion and I cannot stand when people use religion to control others. I also loved how the book wasn't predictable to me; it held me in its' clutches until it was done as I waited for each piece of the puzzle to fall into place.

Violence + ownership are neither love nor romance

Premise:
There is a cult of evil men who keep women imprisoned behind fences as sex slaves, cursed as temptresses from Satan and cursed by God for their "evil" The men treat them pretty much like animals, abusing them at will and with impunity. The women in question are all stunning, submissive and slavish subjects of The Prophet.

One of the women escapes the cult and, oh so coincidentally, ends up in the hands of another, albeit different kind of cult in which women are kept as sex slaves referred to as bitches and useful only for serving or servicing the men. The men treat them pretty much like animals, abusing them at will and with impunity. The women in question as all stunning, submissive and slavish subjects of The Brotherhood.

And yet, somehow, the second group of abusive, violent, amoral men are - ta da!! - the good guys! This story made me want to more or less gag.

If you love stories chock-a-block with cruelty, violence, sexual abuse and submissive women, you'll love this. If, on the other hand, you have any respect at all for women, for the rule of law or for the true meaning of love and commitment between men and women (as opposed to ownership) I suggest you leave this garbage alone. It's not a romance novel. It's pretty much snuff porn.
