Summary
When life turns up the heat, you have two choices. You can bend and break, or you can step boldly into the furnace and let your soul catch fire.
Into The Furnace explores the inner workings of bravery, hope, and passion. These themes are framed against the backdrop of the Badwater Ultramarathon - a 135-mile race across the hottest place on the planet, Death Valley. Cory Reese has walked into the furnace. He has faced adversity, both in running and in life. His book captures the essence of what it means to suffer, what it means to persevere, and ultimately, what it means to create a life of clarity and purpose.

Great writing, atrocious narration
This is a great book!! It is a must read for ultra runners and runners alike. But.. the narration is so bad I had to stop listening and buy the book itself. It’s like Cory just had a buddy do the narration and it was. The. First. Time. He. Read. The. Book..seriously, the narration ruins this book.

Love his humor and writing style
I am fairly new to the world of ultra running, but have fallen in love with the stories from the sport. Cory Reese wrote another excellent book that I would recommend highly if you think ultramarathons and the people who run them are amazing. Cory is a great narrator as well, he had me cracking up on my runs with his sense of humor and approachable writing style. If you enjoy sport biographies, running, extreme sports, or just want a damn good book, give this and Cory’s other book a try.

Cory Reese Nailed It! 👍💪😎😁❤️
I just finished a great book, "Into the Furnace" by Cory Reese. Wow! I learned so much about the #badwater135 The way Cory weaved the history of Death Valley into the story is wonderful. The trials that accompanied those who braved it and the race are legend. A really awesome read. I know some of the people mentioned in the book. I even worked and ran with one of them! Bradford Lombardi. This book really attempts to convey the difficulty in even venturing there, let alone running it. Even so, you have to know there is no way, just no way to begin to understand the difficulty unless you go there. So many real, and great people and their stories are discussed. Check it if you want some inspiration. #4realz http://www.fastcory.com 💪😎❤️😁

Another Great Reese’s Piece
Wow what a journey not only Corey’s but he took time to discover the history and people of the Badwater race. And for a compelling story that kept me listening almost nonstop.

Excellent Listen
As a 72 year old who began running in the middle oh his 68th year and has had four significant sidelining setbacks (and hasn’t given up), I have appreciated a running experience book from a runner who hasn’t been known as one of the elite stars in his sport.

Great book to listen to while running
I listen to things that interest me and motivate me while I run or drive to work. This book was great. Cory does a great job showing that hard work can make even though most "average" of us do amazing things. I love the humor throughout the book. A lot of people critique audio books when the author reads their own book. I think its bold and allows him to get his emotions across in the book. Can wait until we read about your next adventure.

- Fun game. Not much of a fan of the freemium per diem game set up though.

An insightful and honest view of Badwater.
Corey tells the story of his personal experience with Badwater interspersed with the historical origin of the name of the location. This is a great listen for runners and crew alike. Corey is an everyman lunatic that inspires everyone to be just as crazy when chasing their dreams.

Amazing
Kept me spellbound with an amazing story of endurance. I've never ran further than a marathon but now I'm going to go run my first ultra. 42 miles on my 42nd birthday. Thanks Cory!

Put me to sleep twice
This is why authors should rarely narrate their own books. Not to mention the story at the beginning was rambling and disconnected.

Another great read by Cory
Cory bring so much of the human side of ultra running. His humor and life view is so awesome. Definitely recommend this book as well as his others.
