The first story Selma Blair Beitner ever heard about herself is that she was a mean, mean baby. With her mouth pulled in a perpetual snarl and a head so furry it had to be rubbed to make way for her forehead, Selma spent years living up to her terrible reputation: biting her sisters, lying spontaneously, getting drunk from Passover wine at the age of seven and behaving dramatically so that she would be the centre of attention.

Laura Belbin survived hitting her 30s (oh, to be wrinkle-free again), anxiety (just), motherhood (two adorable little shits) and the new body that went with it (a left tit that sags slightly more than the right, anyone?). In Knee Deep in Life she gives a fearless and filthy account of her transformation from no-responsibilities woman to being in demand 24/7, the heartaches and humiliations, and most importantly, her (definitely-pushed-to-the-limits-but-totally-indestructible) marriage to Steve.

People 'know' my on-stage comedy persona or my scripted ballsy characters and wrongly assume that, at home, I must stomp around all day in designer dresses, eviscerating those who dare to cross my path and denouncing the existence of men in general. But mostly, I just sit eating pickles and being nice to some dogs. I'm often asked how I developed my lurid level of courage and assurance and for tips on how others can match. The Audacity is my chance to share my blueprint for just that.

Story
Kate Lawler has never been maternal. And yet here she is: mother to Noa, after years of going back and forth about having children at all. This is the story of her journey from parentally undecided to early motherhood, via raging hormones, sleepless nights, emergency hospital trips, mum guilt, unspoken regrets and post-natal depression. This book is not a parenting manual. It won't tell you what to pack in your hospital bag, or how to get your baby to sleep. It may not help you with feeding or dealing with tantrums. But it will show you that you're not alone.

Creator, mother, lover, and social media phenomenon Tova Leigh explores what the hell you are supposed to do when you find yourself living a life you don't remember signing up for. I was bored, angry, tired, and sad. I felt all alone yet I had nothing to complain about. I had a good job, a husband who wasn't shagging his assistant, three children who apart from being the occasional a**holes were pretty good kids; a house, a dog, and everything else we are told as little girls we should aspire to. But inside, I was growing restless.

Story
This is not a parenting manual. This is real life. The Unmumsy Mum writes candidly about motherhood like it really is: the messy, maddening, hilarious reality; how there is no 'one size fits all' approach; and how it is sometimes absolutely fine to not know what you are doing. The lessons she's learnt while grappling with two small boys - from birth to teething, three a.m. night feeds to toddler tantrums, soft play to toilet training - will have you roaring with laughter and taking great comfort in the fact that it's definitely not just you....

Summary
As a busy mum with a newborn and a toddler, viral sensation Laura Clery has plenty to say about the ups and downs of pregnancy, childbirth and being the best mum she can be while also balancing career success, sobriety, marriage and creativity.
With her engaging and witty voice, she pulls back the curtain on all aspects of her offbeat life, including dealing with addiction and virtual AA meetings during a pandemic and maintaining healthy relationships with her son, daughter, husband and most importantly, herself. Laura’s life has changed a great deal since she wrote Idiot, but what hasn’t changed is her ability to celebrate the laugh-out-loud moments of everyday life and share the tough times with humour, honesty and heart.

First book was better
I felt like there seemed to be no clear direction with the book, just several different stories mashed together, which the first book had a clear direction and was interesting. I do really love Laura and listening to her content but I did struggle to enjoy this. I feel like it would have been better with one topic not several so it could have been expanded and then to me jt would have flowed better as there wasnt much structure! however it is always interesting to hear about different aspects of her life

I Love Laura
God bless you Laura for being you. Wow, we have almost an identical life in so many ways (except I haven't manifested a Tesla like you yet.... Everything about these audible books by Laura are great except the bit recommending A Course in Miracles... wow, I too was completely enraptured by Louise L Hay (another good one is Florence Scovel Schinn... the original before Louise!) however, I have since learnt that these are a path away from the truth which is truly in.... (wait for it... )
Jesus Christ!
Gotcha! Bam! No seriously tho. I'm so looking forward to the book you write which tells us all about Jesus
...who is the God you are praying to, you just don't yet know it.
