Summary

From New York Times bestselling author Brian Freeman comes a gripping psychological thriller about a woman haunted by terrifying memories—of someone else’s life.

On the Fourth of July, Hallie Evers dies at a rooftop party in Las Vegas.

Hours later, she wakes up in the hospital, disoriented but alive. Why can’t she find the doctor who revived her? Why does her head feel crowded and loud? Why do her memories feel both foreign and familiar? Her self-doubt spirals into crippling paranoia.

Hallie knows that mental illness runs in her family—her mother suffered from delusions that led to an early death. But now even Hallie’s dreams are fraught with details that seem like more than imagination—vivid images of a city she remembers but has never visited in her life. As she embarks on a cross-country search for answers, Hallie catches glimpses of what feel like another person’s memories. It’s a dark, horrifying, tragic vision...of someone else’s murder.

But is any of it real?

Unique & Intriguing

I love Brian Freeman’s work. He does excellent plot with lots of unexpected twists and turns. This was a unique book with some great ideas. I enjoyed the characters and how the protagonist persevered until the end when she finally received her answers. The narration was also very good. This is a great read do not miss it!

I couldn't stop listening

I was so taken in by this story that I found myself taking the long way home so I could listen to another chapter. I think I have read or listened to every Brian Freeman book out there, and this is another that deserves applause.

Couldn't stop listening

I have enjoyed Bryan Freeman's books over the last year with my audible subscription. This is by far one of his best books that I have read.. The plot is twisted, the characters are complicated, and the storyline will keep you guessing until the very end

Different. Unusual. I *really* like this book!

Refreshing, riveting switch from the usual mystery/thriller format. If you love pondering future tech possibilities + mysteries as much I do, you'll find this book well worth a listen (and/or credit).

Love this mind meld!

Hallie is a hot mess! Her life as a medical device marketer/writer is boring but pays the bills and funds her destructive lifestyle. Then, during one of those destructive episodes, Hallie has a heart attack and her heart stops beating! Hallie was clinically dead until a doctor saves her life. Hallie is grateful…then the flashbacks begin and someone’s following her and Hallie isn’t sure what’s happening. Especially since the flashbacks are of someone else’s life! A medical experiment, a couple of dead heiresses and Hallie finds herself fighting to stay alive. Intriguing and captivating story.
Great narration.

AMAZING

Yes, I loved this book. From the beginning until the very end, it keeps you guessing and at the edge of your seat! An interesting premise, a tale which could be true, cleverly woven around the "tale of two women". A few twists and turns, too, which keep you guessing! Loved it! Thank you, Mr. Freeman!
