Summary
Twila Winchester isn't used to being in charge, but that's exactly where she finds herself when her sisters leave town for a business convention.
Twila thinks everything is going to be fun and games even though she has one daughter, two nieces, and one mischievous aunt to contend with. She's focused on cooking and having a good time...until a roving troupe of renaissance performers make camp on the Winchester property and trouble starts brewing.
When the head of the group starts making predictions - and, unfortunately, gets left behind - Twila has her hands full. It seems Aunt Tillie doesn't trust the new guest and she's determined to turn the three younger Winchesters into investigative dynamos.
Twila is working on a limited timetable. She must solve a mystery involving some missing items, open her home to a stranger, and crack down on Aunt Tillie's "lying" classes as her aunt attempts to teach Bay, Clove, and Thistle how to manipulate everyone in their paths.
Oh, and she has to do it all before Marnie and Winnie return to town.
No pressure, though.
Note: This is a 28,000-word short set in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It is set back in time so it can be listened to at any point in the timeline.

Twila is Hilariously flighty.
This short is based when the cousins are teens. Twila is left in charge when her sister go out of town. She pretty much proofs why everyone says she is flighty. The best part of the story is actually the cousins relationship with the sheriff and Aunt Tilli.

Stupid that Twila tells stranger everything!!
Twila has always been the dumb and spacey sister of the Winchester aunts and so I wasn't sure about buying it and I do regret doing so.
A caravan makes camp on their private property and Twila is fine with it and tells them they can stay a few days!! Lame and idiotic that a person would just allow strangers to squat on their land!!
Then the caravan 'leaves' the fortune teller behind and again, stupid Twila thinks nothing about offering the woman to stay at their house! Their house even though Bay is scared of the woman, Twila doesn't care and seems to think the woman is the victim not her own niece!! In what world is that realistic?
Of course the **** hits the fan.
Annoying book.

Nothing Magical
First time I am listening to this series and I was quite bored cos they are supposed to be witches but nothing witchy happened at all.. I purchased it cos I was looking to hear witchy stuff so it kind of defeated the purpose.. :(

Flash back developing Twila
I liked learning more about Twila but there was not a lot of other information that came out. We also didn’t learn anything g about her feelings just that she was in her head a lot.

I love the books
I have read the book on kindle & fell in love with this family. The only issue I had with it is the narration. The narrator used such a deep voice for Clove which didn’t make sense with the personality of the character. The other Winchester women had female voices so I’m not sure why this one would be more masculine.
But it is still an amazing book & should be read or listened to.

Gets even better after listening to next books
The kids in this book are in their 20s in the next books and they are snarky and hilariuos! The narrator gets a little better even though this book was probably AFTER the 1st books....weird! Worth the time!

Great!!!
Who doesn’t love the Winchesters? This is so much fun. I was so engrossed in listening that I kept on with housecleaning and organizing much longer than I anticipated.

Love the short series in the Midwest witches I. Singles out one character and gives you a peek inside there life at different times. It makes the Midwest series characters more meaningful.

Another great short
I love the Wicked Wiches of the Midwest series and to hear a story from Twila's point of view was enjoyable.
If you want a little bit of snark in your story, this is a great book to pick up.
