Summary

The third book in a new series of procedural crime thrillers featuring DI Walsh and the team of the Last Chance Saloon, Hunter Hunted is perfect for fans of L.J Ross, Ian Rankin, Damian Boyd and Ann Cleeves.

When an old friend of DI Declan Walsh is murdered and an old enemy restarts their vendetta against him, Walsh is placed in charge of solving the case alongside his fellow detectives in the Last Chance Saloon Crime Unit, realising in the process that somewhere in Whitehall, a new narrative is being written for the murder; one where the dead body is leaked to the press as an extremist terrorist and Declan is being set up to be revealed as not only their terrorist handler in the UK, but also the prime suspect for the murder.

Now working against the clock and trying to find a way to find the real killer before being publicly 'outed' as a terrorist, in the process, forced to abandon his family and home and escape from his own team, Armed Response units and Special Branch, Declan learns that the hunt is now being led by another old foe with a score to settle - and one that will happily kill Declan if it means capturing him.

WOW

Well this one had me literally shouting out and cursing half of the characters at some point or another, so a very emotional ride, the story is exceptionaly well crafted and delivered, I was pulled right in, and stayed glued until the bitter end, and bitter it was, a MASSIVE cliff hanger, so get your pre orders in now, the 4th book is out imminently, so we can forgive the cliff hanger. BUT if I had to wait a year or longer for the next one i'd be well put out. Let's just hope that book 4 does not end the same way, I'm not sure my blood pressure can cope with that.

A good listen

I enjoyed the intrigue of police and government which was modern day. Good guy came out well. Good narrator too,

Good fun

Enjoyed the first of the series, and though some of the twists here were a bit obvious there were plenty of them. Appreciated not having to listen to/ fast forward through details of hideous tortures or sexual assaults.

Takes a while to get into the story

I found this slow going at the start, and by the time I fathom what was going on I'd already discovered how unlikeable the characters are.
I really do need to stop buying 'special offers' as I end up removing them, maybe that's why they are 'special offers'!

Like watching paint dry.

Unfortunately, I brought three of DI Declan Walsh's books in one go. Lesson learnt. Never again.
I stuck with the first book, the second book was complete nonsense, and I'd lost the will to live by the third book.
I'm amazed that Gatland has ever been commissioned.
