Summary

Jenny Blackhurst's debut psychological thriller and number one Kindle best seller How I Lost You was described by Clare Mackintosh as 'utterly gripping'. If you love Louise Jensen's The Sister or Tracy Buchanan's No Turning Back you will love this.

My name is Emma Cartwright. Three years ago I was Susan Webster, and I murdered my 12-week-old son Dylan.

I have no memory of what happened but you believe what your loved ones, your doctor and the police are telling you, don't you?

But if you can't remember what happened, how can you be sure that they are telling the truth?

And if there was the smallest chance your son was alive, wouldn't you do anything to get him back?

A fantastic debut from an outstanding talent.

Strong Story line

If you could sum up How I Lost You in three words, what would they be?

Gripping Long Unlikely

What other book might you compare How I Lost You to, and why?

I Let You Go by Claire Mackintosh
Similar storyline, missing child, violence

What about Jennifer Ness’s performance did you like?

She was able to convey the atmosphere to the reader, but it took me a while to get used to her voice.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, I found some of the scenes a bit unbelievable

Any additional comments?

I did enjoy the book and the climatic ending but I wouldn't rush into another by this author, for a while.

Absolutely gripping

A brilliantly written story, with a gripping plot- I was hooked from the start. I liked that all the questions were answered by the end, which doesn't always happen in books. I would highly recommend this story. Great narration too.

To good not to pay attention!

Another book I bought to paint alone. The story however is complicated as each character shows their hand and you perception of the changes. I found myself engrossed with paintbrush in hand and an empty canvas sitting below. A book of twists that pulls your full attention towards it.

Fair...

The end felt a bit rushed and erratic making the whole story a bit unbelievable.

Gripping and Exciting!

Loved this book! It keeps you gripped throughout and leaves you wanting more at the end of each chapter. You have no idea what the outcome is going to be - keeps you guessing!
The only slight niggle I have is with the ending.. I feel like it brushed across a whole lot where it could've gone into more detail i.e with a certain someone being captured, I'd rather have heard more about that! ;) other than that a fantastic book!

far fetched

started very well and I was gripped, but around a third of the way through I started to feel as though another author had taken over! constantly explaining the plot to the reader, and allowing the characters to say and do really quite unbelievable things.
