About this listen
At Hotel Lamia, experience the charm of New Orleans...as well as its bite.
For 200 years, April has stayed at the hotel. Watching—waiting for her chance to leave. Freedom burned just outside the hotel’s glass doors, but one thing holds her back. The man who saved her, Kovac. She refused to repay his kindness with abandonment, but after two centuries, the shackles of friendship are chafing. But how to fix it?
The answer comes in the form of one terminally ill human who wanders into the hotel’s lobby: Nicole. When sparks fly between the two, April lunges on her one chance at freedom. If she can get them together–overcoming Kovac’s frustrating insistence that turning the dying woman would damn her to hell–then her long-coveted freedom will finally be within reach.
Or, so she thought. When a mortal man comes running after Nicole and long-dead feelings begin to stir to life in April, an unforeseen complication is added to the mix, one she’d forever written off. Fated mates, soul mates...not for her. At least, that’s what she’d believed.
Until now. Get swept away in this twisty paranormal romance where love is cursed...or is it?"

New twist
This title started quite slow but built to a wonderfully engaging story. You become captivated by the characters and are compelled to listen on to the end

Fantastic worldbuilding.
What a wonderful book! The worldbuilding is fantastic, the characters are captivating (my favourite is April with her sassy T-shirts), and the story is entertaining and romantic.
I would have liked the narrator more if she hadn’t taken a breath mid sentence all the time.

Cool vampire backstory
I'm fairly new to vampire stories, so not sure if this is the author's creativity or normal vamp canon, but I loved the backstory and the romance of the legend. The idea of a vampire hotel is really fun and the details are well-thought-out, witty, and fun.
The narration was well-done and easy to listen to.

Romantic New Twist on Vampire Romance
What a new take on vampire romance! First of all, I want to go to this hotel! LOL! Hotel Lamia is owned by two vampires, who have turned an eyesore hotel into a money making opportunity. They advertise the hotel as being haunted, and the guests are warned that "weird" things may happen to them during their stay. The weird thing being every room is connected to a vampire's room. Vampires stay at the hotel for a snack while the humans stay for a hauntingly good time. It's really a fun take on vampirism, and, of course, it takes place in New Orleans because where else would you have a vampire hotel?! The story is really entertaining and fun. The characters are quite memorable. I love the take on how vampires came to be. The romance story between Kovac and Nikki is very sweet. Nikki is dying of cancer, and Kovac struggles with whether to save her by turning her into a vampire or letting her die. Kovac and Nikki both have best friends, who are brought into the storyline with their own romance in tow. It is definitely worth the credit to listen to. Julie Branc did a fantastic job narrating the book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book in the series.
