covers everything Horsemanship!

This book covers everything you need to know about horse riding, horse psychology and Horsemanship. I have been a horse rider for 10 years, this book covers everything, highly recommend this book. It gives you a better understanding of the psychology of a horse which is critical. My horse kept taking off with me and I now have a better understanding of why this is happening. I especially found it helpful that the author provides a pdf to help you once completing the book.

Informative and interesting

First, I would like to say the book is well organized and easy to follow. I have watched horse races on TV and know some people who own horses, but I didn't realize how intricate and interesting horsemanship is. This book provides a good guide on the principles and execution of horsemanship. From this book, I learned that training a horse is as much as training the rider/owner as the horse. Having a horse as a companion can also be very therapeutic. The author provides a lot of advice to help listeners avoid the common mistake new horse owner makes.

A must for anyone planning to own or train a horse

I thoroughly enjoyed this listen. I have two friends who recently acquired rescue horses and are navigating the journey of learning alongside these gorgeous creatures. There is so much knowledge to acquire, but this audiobook really sets a solid foundation. I will definitely look for more from this author and send it to my friends. This listen has also made me want to jump into this venture with them!

Very excellent book

In a few months, I'm actually going to get my first horse, therefore I've been consuming any books with basic and intermediate approaches. This book served as a thorough instruction manual on how to raise a successful horse. I feel very prepared for the future and heartily suggest this book to anybody interested in horseback riding or training.

Very informative

This audible series is awesome. It’s a perfect starting point if you’re interested in owning a horse. Horse ownership is a big investment, so doing your research is very important. I don’t own a horse, however I wanted to learn more about these great animals. I enjoyed learning how important bonding and the gaining their trust and understanding how to talk their language. The author also covers picking your breed and getting over challenges that may come your way. Very well narrated. Highly recommend

Thorough foundation

Having listened to the first part of the series separately, I was happy to find that there were other books to continue learning about horsemanship. In continuing the series, I now have a more comprehensive view (as a beginner, at least!). One of my favorite parts is where the author covered some troubleshooting - very helpful, if not necessary, to beginners.

Helped me Become a Better Trainer

This book gave me all the experience I needed to become a better trainer for my horses. I've learned a lot that hasn't been said about horsemanship, and the key essence of being a good keeper to my babies. This book is keeping me close in every step of my journey and I love that. I've gained some great knowledge that I can implement in nurturing my horses

Wow! 30 years of experience in this book.

There is so much great stuff in this book I am having a hard time narrowing it all down.... but here goes my trying.

He has 3 books in 1 here and the series starts with what you need to start with, building a relationship with the horse and without it, things won’t go well. How are you going to know the horse or the horse know you without it?

You know the old saying "everyone acts or reacts to something" (my way of wording it) well I never knew you had to train a horse on both sides, (kind of like our brain- right & left) and that each side of a horse could react differently to the same thing. A very important thing to learn before the horse teaches you!

He is teaching you about sensitizing & desensitizing, Flexion, backing up, lunging, pros & cons to disengaging, just to name some.
He also gives you great examples of situations as to how the situation has worked for him & how you can benefit from them.

I love the fact that Mr. Walton wants us to succeed at horse training if he didn't he wouldn't just give us his 30 years of experience in this book. How many people give you that much knowledge?

Ok these are the last things I just can't leave out....

-“If you want to change your horse’s reactions you must first change your own actions.” you want him to move according to your cues.

-Horses are a gift from heaven – I love it!

-Who is the #1 horse in the herd? You are, and you want to stay in that position.

-How to buy the right horse for you, for your desired use.
-He compares a disrespectful horse to building your house on sand (in the BIBLE Matthew 7:27) it don't workout well.

I totally love this book!

A great help!

I’ve spent my life around horses and this book was still teaching me. Some of it had never even dawned on me. I am excited to share this with my niece as she is a practicing equestrian and loves everything horses.
