About this listen

As the Nazis bring Denmark to its knees, a resistance forms – and make a discovery that could turn the tide of war. From the master storyteller Ken Follett, Hornet Flight is a startling thriller set amidst the Danish Resistance of the Second World War.

Europe in Darkness

1941. The Nazis have Denmark in their vice-like grip, their malign presence corroding everything its inhabitants hold dear. Even the police betray their countrymen and work with the Gestapo to hunt down spies.

A Glimmer of Hope

In this hostile climate the Danish resistance discover a secret that could change the course of the war – proof of an advanced German radar installation that is causing catastrophic losses to Allied planes bringing the fight to Germany.

A Dangerous Mission

The resistance must get the information to the British and will have only one chance, using a near-derelict Hornet Moth bi-plane mouldering away in a church. If they succeed the balance of the war will be tipped in the Allies’ favour but failure will see them killed...

Full of intrigue, ingenuity a rip roaring story.

A classic Ken Follett book telling the story of a nation under the control of the Germans in WW2. The threat to the British RAF bomber raids on Germany was paramount and needed to be stopped. Could a young Dane fly to England in a beaten up Hornet carrying vital information he had gathered of a German radar system that seemed to control the sky. Would the Hornet make into the air, would the Germans shoot them down? He would need all the help he could get and the friendship of a good woman.

A book full of excitement and cliff hanging moments with an excellent narrator . As with all Ken Follett stories , it is superbly well written and researched. I was so sorry it ended.

Boys Own adventure in WW2

Simple story of goodies (British & Danish) versus baddies (nazis) during WW2. Ripping yarn in true Follett style.

Really good WW2 novel

Really enjoyed this, shorter than his big sagas but still very good. Great description and characters building to a satisfactory finish.

Easy listening

It’s a little cheesy and predictable but still a pleasant yarn! Worth a listen I think.

Very good wartime story

The pace of this story never slackened. I like the way the author never pulls his punches with characters meaning that even main characters can get killed. This means that right until the end of the book you never know if it will succeed or not. Well narrated with lots of very different "voices" used by the narrator to differentiate the characters.
