Summary

Ruthless scion

Forbidden love...

Holt Calson was born with an 11-figure spoon in his mouth to one of the wealthiest families in the world. The night we met, I only had 11 dollars in my purse, and it was all the money I had in the world. We were never supposed to meet, much less be together. But Holt didn't care. He just wanted me. What Calsons want, Calsons get. And for one blazing summer, we had it all. Until….

Ruthless billionaire

A second-chance romance unlike any you've ever heard before...

Several years after that fateful summer, I'm happy and thriving in a solid relationship with a good guy—until my billionaire ex, Holt Calson, shows up at the resort where I'm working as a Kids Club manager. I've moved on, but he definitely hasn't.

He's also a single dad now and in desperate need of a capable nanny to manage his out-of-control son. So the powerful CEO decides that I'm the perfect woman for the job—whether I want it or not.

According to him...

Jack Calihan accent was Irish instead of Jamaican

As a person with Jamaican heritage I was truly offended by Jack attempt at an Jamaican accent... absoluately terrible. Elle on the other hand was great.

Apart from that, story was good.

Holt

I have read and listened to lots of books, but Theodora, sister girl, that narrator got the Jamaican accent downnnnnn! I'm Jamaican and hate listening to authors try to speak "Jamaican." When a person speaks patois 'patwa' in these stories, I cringe 😬 but Elle Cleviden sounds like she knows our dialect. Living in the US for over 30 years, I still haven't lost my accent. I read "Holt" years ago but decided to listen to the audio book while driving to work, and it was a treat. Even though Silvie was a weak Jamaican character, the book was entertaining. Keep doing your ting

Horrible accents

I loved the story but hated the accents that the narrators used for Sylvie, Barron, and the other Jamaican characters. If I didn't know they were supposed to be Jamaican I would have assumed that Sylvie was Irish and Barron was Swedish. Luca sounded like Super Mario. The accents were a bad distraction to an entertaining story.

Realistic touches

As someone who migrated to Arkansas, I can appreciate this story. It is fiction but it’s written so that the setting is sometimes believable. Mostly it’s a love story. Sylvia and Holt deserve the kind of love they find in each other. The struggle to get there is real, but get there they do.

Interesting but

Sylvie got on my last nerve. Running wasn’t the only problem she had. Liked the way the children were integrated into the storyline. The narrators did a good job; glad Elle read with Jamaican dialect slowly enough to understand.

Love it, great story, amazing perfect narration

Great twist and turns throughout, very realistic story line, awesome accents. I had to listen to the end couldn't stop listening, love it. I am really impressed with author. I like how true to life this story is, I mean young adults are stupid, but then people mature and the love is real. Finally young to true adults my kind of book. I wish there was more, like can very rich stay together married?

It was okay…the author does the most

I’ll start by saying there wasn’t a single person in this book I actually liked. The author put too many tropes in this one book that it gave me a headache. The majority of the second book should have been the focus of the first book and the second book should have shown us some redeeming qualities of both of the characters, but you get that in literally the last 30 minutes of the second book.

And Sylvie needed a glow-up. Why keep this woman the same as she was when she was 18? She deserved growth. We, as the audience, deserved to see their brokenness first hand rather than through flashbacks in the second book.

Again, this author gives us another book that feels unfinished. I really liked the last 2 Fairgood books, but she kept keeping the finished story from the audience, and she did it again with this book. So, I won’t be keeping with this series because her writing is really frustrating when you constantly get characters that aren’t fully developed.

The only good this about this book was the female narrator. I will look for more books of hers because she was the only thing that put me inside the story. The male narrator was giving Irish instead of Jamaican and though I need dual POV narration, we could have just stuck to Elle.
