Summary
So I was pretty sure my dead ex-boyfriend’s brother hated me...until he asked me to marry him.
And pretend his brother’s baby - which I’m carrying, BTW - is really his.
So now I’m suddenly the wife of a quirky tech billionaire, and falling in like with him so fast, it’s beginning to feel an awful lot like love. But we both have issues, and there are shadows creeping around the edges of our fledgling relationship. Can two people as different as we are make a pretend relationship real?
Find out if the freak and the geek can find their way to a happy ending in this unique stand-alone interracial romance. Perfect for those who prefer their heroines off-beat and their alphas super geeky. Get this audiobook now to discover why real heroes wear glasses!

Grovel? Who is that?
I really didn't know what to expect when I picked this as my work out audiobook for the day, but I sure did get an adventure. Trying to explain the plot of this super fast paced, slightly over novella length book is like trying to explain the plot of a telenovela, so I'm not gonna because you very well might think I'm lying. It's that wild. Go is a very strange hero, not because he's on the spectrum, but because he's not very nice. Even during romantic times, he's always telling Nyla not to look at him etc. He believes she lied to him with no proof whatsoever, and then all of a sudden declares she didn't do it when presented with bare minimum proof and expects Nyla to forgive him...nope. So if you're looking for a good grovel, look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a tonne of diversity, a bonkers plot and really good writing and a baddie FMC, then this might be something you'll enjoy.

So much more than I expected!!!
I was so wonderfully surprised by this book. The story is full of suspense, romance, and some humor. I have read some books by this author and am amazed with how much character development she can write in a book. The characters she writes about have flaws and issues. The story moves along quite fast and is very good. I thought the narrator did an excellent performance with the various characters and accents. This book is original and a standalone listen. I loved the ending with the unexpected twists! My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I will definitely listen to more books by the author and narrator. I thought the narrator did a fantastic job with some of the characters (my favorite was the husband with the Russian accent). I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Go,Go,Go
This is by far my favorite all time secret baby billionaire story. Nyla and Go are everything that you never knew you needed. I have listened to their story at least four times now and I cant say enough how much I love these two. Theodora you Go girl.

I was surprised
That I actually did enjoy this book. While I'm not usually a fan of billionaire romances, this was different than the usual ones. The billionaire has Aspergers and the female lead is pierced and tattooed. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the characters. Although the storyline was a little unrealistic, the sex was steamy and there was a sweet love story in there.

Love someone because of their differences!
Love someone because of their differences not in spite of them!
I am an audiobook devourer, at minimum a book a day, seriously, I read A LOT, and mostly romances! I am also a writer, so am aware of the story from a technical point of view. That being said, I still love getting lost in the adventure of the story put before me and still get all the feels from the flutters to the knots and even the tears and the giggles. From the blurb of a book combined with the author's style, if I have read other titles by them, I have a fairly good guess as to what is afoot in the story. It is not quite often that I say to myself, "I didn't see that coming". This story got me twice. Well….. Mostly once with the second time being a "you better be lying" moment!
There was a twist that was totally new and, yes, I didn't see that coming! That was quickly followed by the second surprise that I didn’t see coming and was more of a "you better be lying" moment that had my heart in palpitations. Seriously, I had to take a break and breathe it out … and maybe do some creative cursing to the abandoned rant that had been building inside of me.
I loved it but would have to say to those of you that are like me and need that HEA, be patient. Keep that hope in your heart and it will all work out in the end.
Now to the book itself!
His Pretend Baby is a story about loving someone because of their differences not in spite of them.
The main character, Go, took me for a loop trying to figure out who was actually being addressed as there were too many names being thrown about. Let me simplify it for you. Rodrigo is his birth name, Go is his preferred nickname, Burger is the name his family calls him because he has Asperger. Total A-holes right?
So Nyla dated Marco, which is Go's brother. It didn’t work out with him, but they have a drunken one-night-stand that results in a pregnancy. On the way to tell his current girlfriend what happened, Marco dies in a car accident. Sounds like a jerk move, but in the immortal words of Ross, "they were on a break!"
Go gets the confession out of Nyla before his family finds out and wants her to marry him and say the baby is his in an effort to keep the child with the family. He worries she will leave and the loss will drive his parent's over the edge.
The two of them have chemistry but Nyla doesn’t like lying. Go manipulates the situation to his advantage and gets what he wants and a lot of what he doesn't. Go's perfectly executed life is supposed to go according to "the plan" of his own creation. Nyla is an expert at disruption and puts her skills to good use!
The narrator is Clementine Dove and she does well with multiple characters. Each person has their own voice and it is easy to get lost in the story.
This was my first time reading anything by this author and I definitely want to read more, but I will keep this experience in mind as I moved forward.

Different, in a good way!
What did you love best about His Pretend Baby?
I really liked that Go was a character that I have never read before. A very different kind of Geek. Nyla was the perfect match for him and the story flowed well.
Bonus: There were moments that just made me laugh out loud.
What did you like best about this story?
Two favorites: Go and "The Plans". Nyla's first visit to the company.
What does Clementine Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nice voice. It was easy to tell when she changed characters.
Any additional comments?
This was my first time reading this author and listening to Clementine Dove. I wasn't sure if I would like this book and was very pleasantly surprised. I did guess the cause of the leak but the end played out differently than I anticipated. I will definitely consider reading this author's other book and listening to books narrated by Clementine Dove.

His Pretend Baby
This was the best book I have listened to. I don’t usually write reviews but I was compelled and throughly enjoyed the love story of these characters. I found myself talking and laughing along with the story. I wished their story could go on and on.

Unique main characters and story
This was my first Theodora Taylor book. I did not know what to expect with the title "His Pretend Baby". I was surprised on how fast I became engrossed in this book.
Main character is Nyla and she is who she is. She has baggage from her past and does not always deal with it but she is comfortable in her own skin. I really appreciated her struggles and growth as a character.
The other main character is Go (short for Rodrigo). He is on the autistic spectrum. He has issues communicating and sees things very concretely. He also can be extremely thoughtful and sweet. It was great having a character that is not the cookie cutter standard hero. I loved him.
The story had elements that were a bit out there but I truly enjoyed the book. I liked the dynamics of the secondary characters as well.
I listened to the audiobook of His Pretend Baby and the narrator, Clementine Dove, did an outstanding job. She was able to handle the nuance of the multiple characters. She really gave them depth and emotional. Fantastic audiobook!
