About this listen

Hocus Pocus is beloved by Halloween enthusiasts all over the world. Diving once more into the world of witches, this electrifying two-part young adult novel, released on the 25th anniversary of the 1993 film, marks a new era of Hocus Pocus. Fans will be spellbound by a fresh retelling of the original film, followed by the all-new sequel that continues the story with the next generation of Salem teens.

Shortly after moving from California to Salem, Massachusetts, Max Dennison finds himself in hot water when he accidentally releases a coven of witches, the Sanderson sisters, from the afterlife. Max, his sister, and his new friends (human and otherwise) must find a way to stop the witches from carrying out their evil plan and remaining on earth to torment Salem for all eternity.

Twenty-five years later, Max and Allison's 17-year-old daughter, Poppy, finds herself face-to-face with the Sanderson sisters in all their sinister glory. When Halloween celebrations don't quite go as planned, it's a race against time as Poppy and her friends fight to save her family and all of Salem from the witches' latest vile scheme.

It's so interested to hear magic sisters but so very spooky it's of dark magic.

I am sad I didn't know about this sooner. I loved Hocus Pocus as a child and introducing the kids to it pretty much every year when it reruns. the sequel was okay, like it was left open for more

I skipped the original story as I know the film by heart. It's one of my favourite Halloween films so I didn't need to relisten to it. I was here for the sequel.

The new rewrite takes place in present day, when Max, Alison and Dani are grown up and Max and Alison have a child of their own. Poppy Dennison.

Poppy has grown up knowing the story of her parents experience with the sanderson sisters but has never completely believed it. One Halloween, Poppy wants to prove her bravery so agrees to break in to the Sanderson house with her crush, Isabella, and best friend Travis to attempt to play on a ouiji board. Of course, it goes wrong and disneys favourite witches return.

I really enjoyed this story, it was filled with fun references from the film and developed its own story while staying true to the original theme. It was fun, especially with the introduction of gadgets that weren't around for the 1993 film.

The narrator did a fabulous job of keeping the story alive and running smoothly.

Great audiobook for people like me who loved the film!

Nostalgic and fun

My 9 year old son has listened to this story every night for weeks. It's soothing and helpful to him when he's falling asleep. Hope to find more from the same voice actress.

Sensational!!!!

I'd heard talk of a sequel and hoped for a movie, unfortunately that's not happening. Fortunately we have got a book. The story was a fun nostalgic trip down memory lane. I loved the open ending and hope for further adventures of the Sanderson sisters.

Damn you Disney! this needs to be a movie
