Not bad
- By Anonymous User on 20-03-21
Summary
When they took my life, I thought I had nothing left to lose. I was a fool.
The Ouroboros Project was my last chance at salvation, but the new virtual reality was just as bad as the world I’d left. Backroom deals with corrupt nobles, slavery, and murder were all swept under the rug in the pursuit of gold.
Despite everything, I found mercenary life fulfilling, until my guild was attacked. Now, I've got unknown, extremely rich enemies on all sides, a mysterious woman with strange magic and compound eyes, and a guild to save.
They brought their war to my home. It’s only fair I return the favor.
Hive Knight is book one of the Trinity of the Hive series, the first in a dark fantasy series by Grayson Sinclair. Hive Knight features a dystopian real world and a gritty, bleak, and immersive VR world.

Predictable and just bad
The premie is some what ok, but a bit over the edge. The begining is slow with alot of fluff. It picks up some what, but then it turns bad. Its just predictable and drags out.
What annoys me most is the characters. MC is suppose to be dark and have lived a violent criminal live. Then he turns a successful guild leader. He's not that dark! He randomly switches between whiny Dark to a SJW. He is also stupid and gets fooled all the time. With his experience it not believeable. And the demi princess, omfg, they are suppose to be subtle but she drops her cloaks hood 4 times!!! Its just stupid plot armor. There are alot of things like that. Read the book to find out how bad it is.

Solid story, worth a credit for sure
I'll be quite honest, I bought the book not because I know anything of the author, nor can I say the plot line drew me in. Honestly the narrator Neil Hellegers was my primary draw, and mostly because he narrates one of my all time favorite Lit RPG series by Eric Eugland, The Good Guys and Bad Guys series. So it was a bit of an impulse purchase of not seeing anything else better in the offerings and taking a chance with an unknown author but with a familiar voice.
However I do have to say that that I found the story to be engaging, the characters complex and intriguing. and the story definitely held my attention, and I wish there was more now. Its not quite epic enough (given what has been revealed so far) or humorous enough to make it into my top 5, but this is certainly a solid enough book for a recommendation.
If you're looking for an entertaining story to take up a credit, there is really no flaws here and I would absolutely say it's a good start to a hopefully good series. Give it a shot!

Great book!
This one really surprised me, the story so far is great, the characters interesting but most importantly, they are consistent in their behaviour! The only thing i can nitpick a little about is that i felt that the relationship between the two main characters seemed to develop quite fast and abrubtly, however that could be explained by (spoiler!) the fact that they both experienced/witnessed part of the others life through memories. Overall, great book, looking forward to book 2 and any other books the author releases!

I am not sure about this
I am writing this after listening for a few hours.
This book seems to have potential in the: interesting MC and circumstances.
On the other end, it seems to be a little strange. Like not enough plausible deniability. How has he gotten to where he is level wise, I wish I could’ve seen all those levels, this seems like the 10th book in a way.
I will try and finish it, but it seems very spasmodic, like not a real direction just the author trying to explain his story at the end instead of the beginning.
Seems like if there is so much back story that we need to know then starting at that point wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I can see the appeal the author had with starting where he did, but I wish we had more direction, less like weird emotional stuff and then random sex scene and then a meeting where something happens that doesn’t make sense. Anyway I am rambling.

Over all a solid start to a new series.
The only complaint that I have is that the MC's internal dialogue gets some what mixed up with the ongoing situation or conversation that he is currently having. Other than that I really enjoyed the book and the direction it's going.

rocky start
Overall the book was a good listen. Excellent character development. The world was detailed. Narration was done well. Some different game mechanics.
The start was confusing. The over use of flashbacks muddled the story. It's like I started at the end of book and I was like where's this going.
