Summary
The first operational military jet in the world, toward the end of the Second World War, the Me 262 was to be the German "miracle weapon". Mano Ziegler was involved from its inception and contributed to the design, testing, training, and even served in it operationally.
Could the Me 262 have broken the Allied supremacy in the air? Why did it take so long to come into service, and why were hundreds of German pilots sacrificed in developing it? Why did the Me 262 prove not to be the unparalleled success claimed by Goering and why were German cities left dangerously exposed against Allied bombing campaigns? Engaging and Informative
I found this book very interesting, informative and enjoyable. A nice blend of history, politics and technical information tied together with personal recollections, stories and combat sequences. Wish there were more books like this!

Interesting
Interesting and detailed account on the ME262. A lack of appreciation of the unique qualities and misapplication of them resulted in a shorter war than it could have been if the opposite was the case. Would recommend😃

Very detailed, interesting and well narrated
Intriguing, especially as written from a German point of view. Although the information regarding the relatively minuscule Luftwaffe in 44/45 compared with Allied air power is available elsewhere, this describes the monstrous task with which the Germans were faced.
Extremely well translated and narrated in contrast to several recent WW2 military history books I’ve listened to.

In-depth exposure
A most interesting catalogue of events relating to the development and operation of the ME262.
A fleeting reference to Sir Frank Whittle The Father of the Jet Engine but non the less it is a great expose’ of the Development and Performance of the first operational jet fighter of WW2. Some fascinating facts that would otherwise remain obscure. If you are into Aircraft then this book is definitely for you.

Surprised & happy
I listened to this because it’s on audible unlimited. I was wondering how interested I would be in the history of the 262, but discovered the story is v interesting and intertwined with the absolute raving madness of Hitler and his drug-addicted lap dog. Well worth a listen.
