Summary

Study after study confirms that career development is the single most powerful tool managers have for driving retention, engagement, productivity, and results. Nevertheless, it’s frequently back-burnered. When asked why, managers say the number-one reason is that they just don’t have time - for the meetings, the forms, the administrative hoops. But there’s a better way.

A lot of high level reasons to have a conversation

Don’t listen to this if you’re not a manager or waste your time if you already have talks with you employees about their future.
There a for better books on this topic on audible.

I'm glad it was free

I had this in my wish list for a while and then realize that audible gave it away for free. my god. what a poorly read, personality of a brown paper sack, popcorn dry reading experience. ugh. it was an incredibly difficult 2 hours to listen to, and I constantly found myself checked out

Too many quotes

I felt there was some good information but way too quotes of he said and she said. It was read as though you were reading a script for a play.

Craptastic

Hope you enjoy listening to people read PowerPoint slides! Because that's all this "book" is. The reader also sounds slightly condescending. Or maybe that's how the text is written.
