Summary

Bryant Nicks is the head football coach for the Groveton College Jackals, determined to do anything to push his team toward a championship season. When scouting out new players, Nicks comes across a rookie running back that impresses him both on and off the field. His attraction to his student runs deep, but Nicks knows better. Instead, he finds himself pushing the young player to the ends of his abilities, curious how much it will take to break him.

All playboy Jack Perry has ever been good at is playing football. So when he gets an opportunity to play at a top school with a full scholarship, he jumps on it. But it's more than just the opportunity that reels him in. The heat and intensity he feels when he's around his new coach is visceral. He'll do anything to make his coach proud.

Head In The Game is part of the collaborative Groveton College shared world project, but you do not have to read any of the other books in the shared world series to enjoy this book. It is a standalone with an HEA.

Head in the Game

This is fantastic MM sports romance. It is between a coach and his player. Jake Bordeaux did a phenomenal job narrating this book!

So bad, sooo good

I loved this book, so much I have it as my (everything sucks but this makes me feel better comfort listen) so hot and so wrong but the dom/sub dynamic just works and their HEA just kills me. Also the narrator… his loud, grouchy coach then sexy southern boy voice… ye I was in.

I enjoyed this more than I expected to

I was a bit iffy about this one because of the age gap and power dynamic but the author did this really well. I look forward to more from the author ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Head In The Game

I usually listen to the Bordeaux’s together but listened to Jake on his own was just as good! Jake’s accents for the two men were amazing, I could easily tell when the POVs changed at each chapter.
Cannot wait to listen to another!

For the win!

Loved this book, brilliant MM football listen. Taboo coach/student story full of angst, wins, highs, lows and all the spice you need! There is a trigger of relapsing but it all works out in the end.

Jake Bordeaux is utterly amazing in playing both characters, his voice is so diverse and brilliant!

I loved the story

Head In The Game is my first book by Rebecca Rathe and definitely not my last book by the author. The story is told alternately from Bryant's and Jack's point of view
Bryant Nick is the head football coach for the Groveton College. Jack Perry is a brilliant football player who accepts the opportunity of a full scholarship. The coach tries to get the best out of his players, but Jack in particular has taken a liking to him and pushes him to his limits. Jack is ready to test those limits.
I've read a lot of sports romance stories before. Here I was quickly drawn into the story and then I was right in the middle of it. Always on tenterhooks, maybe something important is about to happen. The more I listened to the audiobook, the more the story captivated me and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next.
The chemistry between the coach and his player is there right from the start and was off the charts. The boundaries become increasingly blurred and I was very excited and also felt very sorry for the two of them. The two of them are really hot together, but what happens in the final third was an emotional rollercoaster ride. Holy moly, my nerves.
Jake Bordeaux did a phenomenal job narrating this book! I think he found the perfect voices for Jack and Bryant and he portrayed the emotions very well and brought their story to life in a fantastic way. I hadn't heard Jack Bordeaux before, but I loved his performance.
The audiobook was entertaining and very emotional!

A good read but

I liked the book well enough I think but I am not a fan of this narrator so he soured my experience and that instantly deducts stars. I would have enjoyed this more with 2 narrators that I actually like or if I would have just read the book.
