Summary
Love isn't always responsible.
After Micky O’Neill is remanded in custody for breaching his court order, his already tempestuous relationship with Dan Peters is tested to the limits.
Having to battle their way through a court case that could end with Micky in jail, social workers breaking up the family home, and the return of Micky’s deadbeat father, it seems everything is set to destroy their relationship before it even had the chance to start.
With such high stakes involved, not just for Micky but for once-burned, twice-shy Dan, they both have to learn that falling in love isn’t always responsible.
This is the second book in the re released Responsible Adult Series. It has been edited with new content added to make for a new reader experience.

A beautiful story
This little make shift family stole my heart and I loved the growth, hope and change all caught or and embraced in this story. I love that things have worked out and there is hope on the horizon for a new life. I'm curious where the author will take these guys next as I almost feel like this one has ended this chapter and ended with hope and happiness. I'm curious to see how they settle into their new life, home and country
a beautiful story with tears, love, sadness, hope and honesty 😍

Another chapter of a brilliant story
Story: Moving on with the story from part 1 and I must say I love these MCs! Such a riveting story and it’s not always the case with a continuing series.
The challenges the author puts them through are so genuine and the whole story so emotional!
Narration: Brilliant as always! Piers Ryman is ideal for CF White’s books, plain and simple

Mickey and Dan - a brilliant story!
After finishing the first volume of this trilogy, I was blown away by this story and couldn't wait to listen to "Hard Times".
Like the first volume, this book is incredibly well written and I'm not usually one to get teary-eyed quickly while reading or listening to an audio book, but this sequel was very emotional and I actually had tears in my eyes at some points.
Mickey has a criminal past and is bad at keeping his temper in check, which gets him into trouble a time or two. It sounds like a bad boy, but Mickey has such a big heart and loves his brother Flynn more than anything. You can't help but love Mickey. And you love Flynn even more, his special needs brother who brings some light to this dark story with his sunny disposition. But how will the two of them get through it when Flynn is taken away from Mickey? And then Mickey's father shows up, who is up to no good.
The author has written the protagonists in an authentic and complex way and the story could really have happened like this. All protagonists have their strengths and weaknesses and not every decision Mickey makes is happy. And if you think that fate was already cruel to the brothers, it always goes one step worse. What a bleeding heart I had! But it was nice to see Dan stand by Mickey and love him despite all the difficulties.
The character development was great again in this book, as was the rest of the story. There were always twists and turns that I wasn't expecting. And yet I suffered and hoped along with Mickey and Dan. Dan is also a great character with parents who stand by him. It's nice to see that despite everything, Mickey can count on Dan.
The audiobook was narrated by Pierce Ryman and he did a really good job. He brought the characters to life and he conveyed the emotions very well - and there were some emotional moments. For me, the narrator is the perfect choice for this story! It was an absolute pleasure to listen to Pierce Ryman.
And now I'm impatiently waiting for volume 3 and hoping so much that Mickey, Flynn and Dan get their happy ending.
Highly recommended!
I received a copy of the audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book in the series
Another instalment into the lives of Micky, Dan and Flynn, and wow, did I cry a lot.
The characters are so true-life it's as if you are reading about people you know or your neighbours. The characters are well written, and even though the MC has a temper and a criminal past, you have to love him. Micky has a younger brother Flynn who has special needs, a beautiful, exceptionally well-written character who tugs at your heartstrings right the way through the book. This section was written for book 1, but I decided to keep it.
Micky gets himself into trouble again, his quick temper getting the better of him, but even with this, Dan stays by his side, Flynn however, is taken away from Micky and put into foster care. When I said I cried at the beginning of this review, I did on numerous occasions. It is written so well that I was in tears every few pages at one point.
I love how the author develops the characters, their pasts not defining who they are but aiding them to better themselves. The story develops well, and I have to say I loved every part, even the details that brought tears to me. I still couldn't put it down. If anyone deserves a HEA, it's these three.
The story is tough love, sweet, establishment hating, disabled child bullying, abuse from parents, suicide. I can't wait for book 3. I am completely smitten with these characters.
The narration by Piers Ryman was impeccable, clean, easy to listen to and did a great job of distinguishing between the characters. An absolute joy to listen to.
