Summary

How do you define yourself when others have already decided who you are?

Six years ago, when Camden Daniels came back from war without his younger brother, no one in the small town of Alba, Colorado, would forgive him - especially his father. He left, swearing never to return.

But a desperate message from his father brings it all back. The betrayal. The pain. And the need to go home again.

But home is where the one person he still loves is waiting. Willow. The one woman he can never have. Because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark.

If only he could tell his heart to stay locked away when she whispers she's always loved him, and always will...

Contains mature themes.

Okay, but Rebecca Yarros has done better

Listened to this audio book after The Last Letter and although it was okay the story wasn’t as gripping. I do like the author’s style though so will definitely look for more by Rebecca Yarros. Excellent narration brought the book to life.

Another gripping storyline from Rebecca Yarros

As the previous reviewer I read this whilst waiting for Iron Flame to be released, not really expecting a lot, but this is the 6th book of hers I have read and none of them have been found wanting. I have listened to them all more than once which is something I haven’t wanted do before. Thank the Gods for buying Fourth Wing first and getting hooked on this Author!!!

So good

Honestly, from other reviews I didn’t expect too much, but have enjoyed other books from Rebecca Yarros so decided to give it a go.
I couldn’t stop listening- it’s 2am and I’m actually sad it’s finished. Some twists and turns, good characters and some who need a lesson or two. I adored Willow and Cam. Flaws? Yes. But understandable. I really enjoyed it, and need to check out more while I wait for the sequel to Fourth Wing!

My Best Listen for 2021

This is the second book I read by Rebecca Yarros. I had to muster up my courage, emotionally, to pick up another book of hers. She ruined me after reading The Last Letter, my heart still aches just thinking about that book. This book is no exception, it is beautifully written, well thought out, poignant love story full of heartwarming and at times gut wrenching emotions and feelings. This book has everything I enjoyed in a love story. I can’t remember the last time I bookmarked and highlighted a book so many times. The compelling and moving narrative captivated me, taking me on an emotional journey through the highs and lows of the story, I couldn’t put the book down. I fell very hard with the two main characters, their love for each other were all-encompassing from the start. Thanks to the acting talents of narrator Carly Robins and new to me narrator, Eric Michael Summerer they were able to evoked so many emotions, helped me lose myself in the book and brought the whole story to life. My best read/listen for 2021.
