Show me an amateur conjurer, and I'll stop him before he gets himself killed. That's the idea, anyway. But New York City isn't what it used to be, and I don't mean the recent crash. Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn't be able to. And there's been a murder at the city's most hallowed cathedral, a message in blood on the victim's back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like yesterday.

Story
Savid DelaCrotia is the third born son of one of the Kingdom of Montshire’s oldest and most respected High families. Cast aside by his father at an early age, it’s up to him to make his own way and create his own honor. With just his horse, his weapons, the clothes on his back and in his pack, and the education that his family provided, he’ll have to go it alone. Luckily, he already has a pretty good idea of what he’s good at - fighting, and woodcraft - not to mention finding hidden and lost items.

Eco-terrorists unleash the worst attack the world has ever seen. Over 25,000 autonomous combat drones are released in Manhattan. Hundreds of thousands are dead, and the entire island is evacuated and quarantined in just a few days' time. Ten years later, Manhattan is still empty of humans, with the exception of the salvage specialists of the most watched reality show in history: Zone War. Produced live and unedited, the show follows five teams of armored vehicle specialists who brave the active drones to recover lost riches and collect bounties on dead ones.

Until the three monsters grew weary of the carnage, choosing to leave it all behind and visit the brave New World across the ocean. It seems he contracted a "virus" that is making him taller, faster, and stronger. Superb Series of Books
I am writing this review having finished reading the entire Demon Accord series about three weeks ago. Having only recently discovered my liking for supernatural fiction I came across God Touched and decided to give it ago. I finished it in double quick time. It left me wanting more, and I soon devoured the rest of the series. Great characters all properly drawn 3D people with all their faults and weaknesses, set in a supernatural world that doesn't confuse the reader with too many changes to the laws of physics.
What can I say. Read this first book and I would be very surprised if you don't want to read the rest.

Hard to stop listening to this series
Where does God Touched rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I found the world of demons, vampires and werewolves fascinating.
The main character escalates in power through the series, which worries those that would like to control him.
I found the narrator very good, I tried to limit my listening to commuting but I found it hard to stop listening.

good series...
the idea of a low in the ranks cop, who realises he has an ability and becomes more than anyone expects him to be, is a basic story line. However this one by his likeability, manages to pull other supernatural characters to him. He grows in power and acquires "talented" friends to allow him/them to fight even more powerful foes. I disagree with the person who suggested that when Declan O'Carroll came on to the scene, the books lost something... the story goes onto different characters and we find out more about them and then they interact with our main protagonist in the next book, whats the problem with that?

Reads kinda like a teenage boys fantasy
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I guess I'd say it's alright if you want something fairly trashy. Especially if they were a guy.
Would you recommend God Touched to your friends? Why or why not?
I don't think I would. The love story in it is a bit... I dunno predictable. I kept waiting for the main character to put on a fedora and say m'lady.
What does James Patrick Cronin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Clear reading, good pronunciation, very listenable voice
Did God Touched inspire you to do anything?
I dunno maybe read the next one in the series. It's trashy but could definitely be a guilty pleasure
Any additional comments?
I kinda felt like, the story could have been better.
Loser guy becomes super cop, and also super hot, and also gets a super obsessed girlfriend who is also super strong but ultra loving and cutesy. Has to eat tons of greasy food and do nothing to keep in shape.
My eyes did roll a few times. Generally enjoyable though.

Written by a 5 year old?
Terrible. If I could return it, I would. If anything, I feel like audible should pay me for damages.
I've gone through a lot of urban fantasy during this year, a lot of it fairly trashy (& a lot unexpectedly good!), so I thought I built up some resistance, but this one was just too much... Best described by one of the previous reviewers as "the teenage boy's fantasy" . I would bring the bar even lower.
The plot seems to serve only one purpose - so that the hero can yet again be surprised at how hot women find him (insert an eye roll). How many times?! Especially one sexy Russian vampire (reader's performance is great but perhaps next time he may consider gentler accents, these make the characters sound a little dumb).
Book sounded like listening to my nephew who's 4... And she bought him all the guns in the world! SO many guns and the mightiest weapons and let's list them all, and danced in the sexiest way in the smallest attire, and they are both the most special, and he can eat all the burgers he wants and his blood is the tastiest and his muscles the biggest, like, to the moon!
Cliches I can take, but this should have remained in the author's desk drawer.

Urban Fantasy Where Good Kicks *%# and I Loved It
From the very first chapter of the first book of “The Demon Accords”, it immediately grabbed my attention and has held my attention throughout the entire 12 books; and it still left me wanting more. This is a great Series appealing to our visceral sense of righteous justice. Written in first person we meet Chris Gordon, a young police officer with the ability to vanquish demons. He is a very likable main character that exhibits all of the traits of a hero; humble, yet very capable with a strong sense of morality.
I have to say I usually I don’t go for this type of genre, but this series is not the typically hero fights monsters story; in fact some of the stereotypical monsters found in other books are actually the hero’s in this story as well, and the relationships that Gordon develops with these other characters is one of the main reasons that I like this series so much.
I was also impressed, as I listened through the other books, that there was no let down in the quality or the experience of the expanding story. The added characters are just as strong and interesting as the original cast giving new dimensions to the story. There are many other series that seem to have “filler books,” that aren’t that good and you read through them just to get to the next one; in my opinion every book in “The Demon Accords,” was a great addition.
If I had to criticize anything it would be the title of the series; I think maybe “The Supernatural Accords,” might be a more apt title; but who am I to judge.
About the narrator, James Patrick Cronin, I really like listening to his narration; in fact I’m looking for other books he has narrated. He really does a great job.
I recommend this series if you like urban fantasy and strong main characters that simply kick but.

Entertaining, but subject to serious power creep.
What made the experience of listening to God Touched the most enjoyable?
Excellent performance. Generally very interesting characters.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The world building is foundational and fairly interesting. I'm intrigued to see how the world evolves as we, the the audience, are shown more of it.
What about James Patrick Cronin’s performance did you like?
He does a very good job of differentiating the many different characters with subtle vocal nuances and affectations that make it simple to easily determine which character is speaking before you are actually told.
Any additional comments?
I've read up to the fifth book as of the writing of this review. It's a generally interesting and engaging story, with an intriguing universe.
The only part I have a real problem with is the obscene power creep - i.e., the main characters are absurdly strong, and grow absurdly stronger with the passage of every book. The concept of finding new challenges for the main characters becomes a more and more daunting process with the passage of every chapter, it seems, and it seems as if the main characters will be universe-shatteringly strong by the end of the series.
Still, if that does not bother you, this is an entertaining and enjoyable Series book. The story has a tendency to run and flow and make differentiation between books and chapters somewhat strange, but it is, overall, a good story.

Eh - unless you like vampires
If you like vampires, this book is great for you. It makes them out to be sexy, intelligent, powerful (politically, finacially, and naturally), and nice for the most part. Chris Gordan is a non magical New York style Atticus O'sullivan (Iron Druid), which is something that I related to quite nicely. But the overall use of Vampires turned me off a little.
So if you really like vampire books, you'll absolutely love this series. I don't and therefore I have yet to move on to the rest of the series. However, I would suggest it for most people.
Narration is fantastic!

Nothing clever here.
I listen to stories in bulk... epics are my jam. The longer the better. There are two things I desire in my listening experience; multiple books, and a fair amount of character development. I endured the first three books in this series. 90% of the character development happens in the first half of book one. The characters invoke as much feeling as being served a mostly flat soda/beer at a bar... At no point did I feel like any characters were in danger (emotionally or physically). The plot lines of each book are as predictable as a color by numbers painting. I don't need the stories I listen to to make me feel good, but I would like to feel something... interested? Excited? Scared? Grossed out? Anything...
I don't usually write reviews, bc frankly, it's just my opinion.. I don't usually feel the need to share or influence others with that opinion. But these books are just lame pointless dribble from a self described "midlife crisis" mind. My advice is to spend your credits elsewhere.

Entertaining - improves along the way?
I'm getting book 2 because the writing and narration improved along the way. I was almost ready to bail on this book due to the annoying "Valley Girl" manner of speech with the rising tone at the end of the sentences. Thankfully, the narrator brought that down mid way through the book, but not totally? :)
This was not the most sophisticated book I've ever read, and is probably just a notch above Young Adult? The Iron Druid series is a better presentation of dialogue and rich details from research. But, while I'm waiting for the next Iron Druid book (author Kevin Hearne) . . . and, for the next Peter Grant book (author Ben Aaronovitch) . . . this will fill the time?
Given that the book got better near the end, I'm hoping that the series will too. Hope the narrator drops the Valley Speak. Book 2 could be awesome?

If u like JIM BUTCHER and KEVIN HEARNE, u will LOVE this series!!!!!!!
I have over 400 audio books in my audible library, and find it harder and harder to find books, let alone series, that I enjoy profusely!! I sometimes almost have panic attacks when I am looking for a good book. Thank god I found this series. I have been in a bit of an audible slump since I couldn't find that perfect book. Of course I look at ratings, and have been reliant on audible suggestions as of late. I was very lucky they suggested this one. Just reading the synopsis had me hooked. I went back and read the negative ratings, as I always do, after thoroughly enjoying a book, and couldn't figure out why people were saying the narrator was bad and the story line was young adult material. I can tell u they were horribly wrong. Give this one a chance, and like me u will be excited to see there are several already on audible. An audiobook addict like me knows what I am saying when u find a gem like this, then see there have been several audiobooks written and recorded already in the library. It's like starting breaking bad on Netflix after the series just ended.... Pure unadulterated pleasure!!!! Great job to the author, on both the great story line and choosing a great narrator!!!

All I can say is yes
If you like a book about a hero who is a kicks butt gets the girl keeps the girl and has no compunction about killing bad guys instead of letting them go to just to come back again and again. which is the very definition of insanity then this is the book series for you my friend. Oh and did I mention the girl kick butt too. Dig in you won't be disappointed in this one

Urban Power Fantasy (***Slightly Spoilerish***)
What did you like best about this story?
A protagonist with extraordinary powers who doesn't get defeated by every supernatural baddie who comes along. When faced with an enemy with inferior powers (which is pretty much everyone) he mops the floor with them without needing a Scooby Gang or blind luck to pull his feet from the fire.
Any additional comments?
I wouldn't want every book or series to feature a hero this powerful and who is generally physically unchallenged. But this is a nice antidote to the typical fare where you're left wondering how a 1000 year old wizard survived even a month when he or she is knocked unconsciousness 5 times in a book (but not killed because of...plot?) and who in the end needs their apprentice with 6 months experience to remain alive, defeat the evil whatever and save the world.
Recommended for those who still fall asleep to fantasies of possessing amazing powers and being invincible.(and maybe getting the girl or boy in the end).

All and all a great book.
Would you listen to God Touched again? Why?
Yes, to catch things that I missed the first time around and to be able too experience the book all over again.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The final fight scene, I feel like that could of been a bit more exciting but overall still a great scene.
Have you listened to any of James Patrick Cronin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, this was my first time experiencing the great talents of JPC and will definitely look more into his works.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes after the first chapter I was hooked, the action in the books begins right away and just draws you in. Looking forward to book 2 and beyond.
Any additional comments?
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
