Summary

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation, where the popular girls never let her forget just where she ranks in the school’s social scene: somewhere less than zero.

When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don’t show many signs of life, but they come out fighting when the town’s deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood….

non-stop vampire action

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a town ruled by vampires? For Clair Danvers and her friends, this is a grim reality. Morganville Texus is a town run by vampires, where any human not under the personal protection of a vampire is fair game. Life is a constant struggle to survive. Far from being a vampire romance, this book attempts to paint a portrait of life under vampire rule and Rachel Caine does a splendid job. With four excellent main characters, this book is compulsive reading and the saga is only just beginning.

Gripping and funny too.

The book has a great story to it . As an adult I loved it and every single one she has done in this series of books. And also shows that bullies don't always win.

Ruined by narrator

I love this series but this was absolutely destroyed by the narration. Emotionless, robotic, jarring and just annoying. Could only stand 10 minutes. Makes the voice sound like children instead of college kids. So disappointed as I love the story.

a fun story well written and performed

Would you consider the audio edition of Glass Houses: The Morganville Vampires, Book 1 to be better than the print version?

on par with the print version. a very entertaining story wonderfully performed, A different voice for characters makes it very easy to follow.

What did you like best about this story?

what i like best about the story is the originality of it. the characters are really well thought out. the story's slow but interesting which escilades towards the end

Which scene did you most enjoy?

the scene i most enjoyed is Claire's first meeting with Amelie. it's a very dark atmosperic scene.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the book can be quite moving when Claire's bullied by Monica and her friends which leads to the story

Any additional comments?

the story, although slow at times is like a rollercoaster ride, funny, sad and a lot of suspence. i love Rachels writing style, simple but effective. the thought into the characters is top class, and there's some really good characters who Katherine brings across to the audience really well. a really good listen, which i listen to again and again..

Vampires, vampires, vampires

I was new to this book series but friend recommended it for me as I love mysteries and vampires.
It was good! Very intriquing. Listened the whole book in one go! :D
Narrating could have been better but it didn't ruin the experience!

Greed Reins

This book is a very much meant for young adults and is not like her some of her other more adult orientated series eg the Weather Warden series.

To me some of characters were very immature at times and most of the vampires could be clones. They are not the Cullen's.

Still the book does hold some charm and should appeal to the younger audience or those who remember who the target audience is.

The story ends on a major, major cliffhanger so if you like books to at least tidy up most of the main plot threads be prepared to be disappointed

Aside form all that the narrator does a good job and the story has enough action to keep you involved if you can forgive the above points. which is why i gave it the rating i did because for the audience it is aimed for it hits most of the right buttons for that demographic

just recently Glass Houses: Morganville Vampires, Book 1 became a daily deal as i found out apparently now it has a different narrator it now not available in Australia. This has happened with other series and will not be the last time.
