Quite hard to finish this book
I was quite excited to receive a free audiobook copy after reading the plot. Unfortunately, I did not find this book entertaining. The plot was a bit boring. It could also be due to the narrator. In my opinion, reading in different tones can have a massive impact. The emotionless tone has put me off as it’s hard to immerse myself in the book and imagine whats happening.
The author waffles a lot. I understand it is a first person point of view, however some of the sentences could be rephrased to sound more natural. I think the story does not flow; the author quickly goes through sections of the book without much explanation.
It is difficult to connect with the characters since its a short story. There is unexpected mild profanity. Im not against using profanities in books, however it could have been added to other sections where its needed for effect.
Overall, it is an okay book. If it was longer with more exciting events, it would be an enjoyable book. It does have potential to become better.

it has potential
good story, but i feel it could have been developed more. definitely it has potential for a good series. unfortunately it was so short that i could not really connect with any of the characters much. the narrator has a very cute voice and a mild accent, but i could unfortunately sense her inexperience. i think she will be really good once she practice different tones and acting rather than simply reading.

Gifted
Kayla has quite the gift! It’s sad she must bear it alone. I enjoyed the story and how her gift enhanced. I look forward to more in this series to see how the gift and character grow. Nice narration.

Wonderful story
Narration was perfect for this story. Wonderful expressions of feelings as told in firsthand of a girl given and dealing with ability to see ghosts and helping them past to the light by taking them to through their road blocks. Meanwhile having to deal with her own self as a growing young woman. Well done.

Good Read
I enjoyed this book- wish it was longer. I enjoyed the plot and wish the author had dove deeper into the gift and it’s impact on the main character. Certainly leaves room for a continuation. As for the audible performance- I enjoyed the tone and timing of the narration. I wish there were more emotion in certain areas, the narrator kept all parts of the book pretty evenly stated and in times where you know there should be emotion (anger, distraught, etc) it seemed off.

Very interesting
This is a very interesting premise for a book and the narrator’s voice is amazing.
Kayla is a very likable and somewhat relatable character who is literally trying to get to know herself and learning by trial and error.
I would like to read more about her.

Odd but entertaining
A very short book about a teenage girl with a gift that's discovering her sexuality while developing her talent. Narration is ok but bland.

Ethereal, spiritual - and yet with a lot of daily life of a young adult
Kayla has a unique talent - she helps earthbound spirits to cross over into the light.
But she is also 19 and has an otherwise normal life with normal motions of a teenager/young adult. She falls in love, thinks about her future, falls out of love and in love with someone else - and now she needs to help Lee cross over. The hardest part is finding out what stops him, what keeps him there.
The writing was short and sweet; there is a bit stream of consciousness happening, but it fits the protagonist quite well. I enjoyed the title and will definitely keep following the author, Meredith Tucker, for more.
The narrator has a unique style and flair to her narration, but I couldn’t get into it. There were several points in the story where my attention wandered and I had to go back a bit to relisten. The character work could be a tad more distinct and pronounced, and - this is my personal taste - there could be a bit more variation in the narration itself.

Beautiful narration and description.
I was truly impressed with the description in this book. Sit back relax and let the narration depict the story for you! Kayla(the character) will tell you through her eyes and you will feel as if you are there. The narration is at a perfect pace which is always important for me. I recommend adding "Gifted" to your library!
