About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The third novel in the gripping Will Trent series, from the
Sunday Times bestselling crime and thriller author.

Now a major TV Series on Disney+

Sara Linton had moved to Atlanta hoping to leave her past behind her.

But when a severely wounded young woman is brought in to the emergency room, she finds herself drawn back into a world of violence and terror.

When Special Agent Will Trent visits the scene of the incident, he stumbles on a torture chamber buried beneath the earth.

It's clear that this woman is not the only victim of a sick, sadistic killer.

Wrestling the case away from the local police chief, Will and his partner Faith Mitchell soon find themselves at the centre of a grisly murder hunt.

Haunted by their own wounds and secrets, do Will and Faith have what it takes to stand between a madman and his next crime?

I've not read a Karen Slaughter book in quite a while. Listening to Genesis read admirably by Jennifer Woodward I'm asking myself why not. The pace, twist and turns interpreted excellently by Jennifer kept me gripped to the very end. The only 'fly in the ointment' for me was the character of Will, a police detective who can't read or tell left from right. I found this slightly odd, how did he reach detective with this still a 'secret' as it was referred to several times during the story. This aside I did enjoy Genesis and look forward to listening to another Karen Slaughter especially if read by Jennifer.

One of the best Karen Slaughter books I've read

Would you consider the audio edition of Genesis to be better than the print version?

I've not read the printed version only listened to it on audible but I think it will be good either way

What did you like best about this story?

I like the way Karin writes the story of Will's life and Sarah life having read the previous books I'm always wanting to know what's happening next and how things turn out for them both

What about Jennifer Woodward’s performance did you like?

I like the fact her narration didn't annoy me. I could just listen and enjoy the book

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Oh I don't know maybe watch if u dare

Any additional comments?

Top Story

Another great story by Karin Slaughter although its the first time I've listened to one of hers (as opposed to read it) and the accents threw me a bit which is silly really as I knew where the characters were from, just never gave them accents when I read to myself. Narrator misread a couple of lines but barely noticeable

Storytelling at its Best

This is the second Karin Slaughter that I've listened to and now I'm "hooked". It has to be said though, that it's pretty gory and difficult to listen to in places. However, the characters are so rounded and grounded and the story so compelling that I'll grit my teeth until they're done. The author is so clever and the narration is perfect for this work ... truly brilliant.
