About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A beautiful Chelsea town house. A chance to fulfil her dreams. A life adventure awaits…

It’s 1968 and it’s cold when Felicity arrives in London to stay with her mother, improve her English, do a secretarial course - and meet a suitable man.

She is already missing her home in Provence and her father and his new wife and their extended family. But it’s only for a year she tells herself - and then she can go back to France and do what she really wants and become a painter.

And then she bumps into Oliver who is quite the most interesting young man she has ever met. He lives on a barge for one thing and has a selection of jobs including looking for hidden treasures along the shores of the river Thames.

In a word he’s a mudlarker - and before long Felicity is mudlarking too. She is also pursuing her dreams and painting scenery for Oliver’s actor friends.

But is Oliver a Suitable Man of whom her mother will approve? Felicity knows she will not …

Love, tangled relationships, and a real life adventure lie at the heart of Katie’s Fforde’s heart-warming novel.

Lovely Felicity

From London with Love had everything I have to come to expect from the best of Katie Fforde's novels, a kind heart at the centre of the story, spun as sweetly as sugar and woven around with love, adventure and a cosy feeling of home. This novel is as comforting as a cosy cardi on a cold day.
Picking up where the other 1960's novels have left off and moving on a few years to Felicity, I definitely recommend reading these in order for helpful background info, though this certainly works as a stand alone novel too. Felicity is the French step daughter of Alexandra, who was the main character in a Wedding in Province, which in my opinion was the best one from the series to date, until this came out.

Not what I used to love out Katie Fforde

I’m a long time reader of Katie Fforde books, and have ays enjoyed reading or listening to the books. This one although good, was disappointing for me! It didn’t capture me like the other books did….

Easy to listen book.

Not being able to turn back when I misheard something. I missed a chapter and cannot find it.

Beautifully crafted…

This was a very enjoyable listen!
I often find books that are meant to be easy reading/listening can be a bit boring, have annoying or unlikeable characters, or have distracting narrations. This book has none of these.
Brilliantly crafted, enjoyable all the way through, sumptuous characters, even the pompous arses that the listener despises are pleasurably dislikeable, lovely turns, and exquisite narration.
