Girl Mechanic, Cooking Lessons, and Jesus
I never expected to LOVE this story so much, but from the time that Missy turned around, with the melting Neapolitan ice cream in the floor board of her car, to help the city slicker broke down on the side of the road, I was hooked. Raised by her daddy after her mama died, Missy was not a girly girl, nope, far from it. She learned to work on cars at her daddy’s auto repair shop, but she was also in charge of the household . . . cooking and cleaning. And not so great at the cooking part. Well, the city slicker turned out to be an auto parts salesman. The irony of it wasn’t wasted on Missy or her daddy, Big John, who couldn’t abide solicitors. But something was definitely different about this one . . . and it was more than the fact that he was the spitting image of comedian, Jerry Lewis. His name was Robert. But between Missy calling him Jerry Boy and her daddy calling him Bobby Boy, Robert couldn’t win for losing. Still, there was something about him . . . and Big John’s regular auto rep hadn’t been to the shop in a good long while. So began a tenuous dance between Big John and Robert, each courting the other . . . but for very different reasons. Many a good laugh is to be had in this sweet story of a clean-cut young man starting out on a new job as an auto parts rep and a rough-around-the-edges family who owns an auto repair shop. Robert is a Christian, from a Christian family . . . and his kind and gentle spirit begins to rub off on Big John . . . and remind him of his wife, who was also a believer. It starts Big John on a journey to the Lord, and Missy on the way to learning to cook from the older women of the church. This is my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last. The story is clean, funny, and never stuffs religion down your throat. It brings forth real issues, in an honest way, while still shining light on the path that the Lord would have us to choose. I am not a romance book listener, but love books like this one. This is a relationship story, one that shows the Lord’s relationship with His children, the relationships between parents and their children, and siblings with one another, Christians with one another, and lastly the relationship between a man and a woman who love one another. Great listen!

Wonderful story
The characters changed and grew as the story progressed and the plot changed course, just as real people do. I loved the ladies’ acceptance of a young girl, even though she wasn’t “polished”. Loved the way God gently led her to Him. Only one word of caution, if you are dieting or maintaining weight, don’t listen to it when you are hungry!!!!😜

Excellent Christian Romance and Excellent Book.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, this is a fabulous book. It is written skillfully in that you don't much like the Bible salesman at first. You see him very much through Missy's eyes as a self-righteous little twerp. The author changes your view of him right along with Missy's.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Missy and her father are tied for my favorite character. Although Curler Head is definitely in the running. Missy is a kind and devoted daughter living with her father after her mother's untimely death. She is hardworking, spunky and a fabulous at fixing cars. It is difficult not to like her. Her father, John, is a gruff, charismatic character. He is an excellent hands-on father who cares deeply for his children.
What does Stacey Glemboski bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She gives an excellent performance and brings each of the characters to life. She is very good at both the male and female characters and switches between the two seamlessly.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book is very well written with many moving scenes. My favorite would definitely be when Missy first meets "the Bible salesman." I also really enjoyed the fishing scene with Curler Head.
Any additional comments?
This is an excellent book. It is clean and family friendly. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet romance!
Fried Chicken and Gravy is a sweet, innocent romance. As the title suggests, this is about cooking, and it is also set in the 1970's in a more innocent time period. Sherri Schoenborn Murray's writing flows and the narrator, Stacey Glemboski, flows right along with her. Christian values ring true and its nice to watch the characters grow in their faith. I will be looking for more audio books from this author.

Another outstanding Sherri Schoenborn Murray book
Fried Chicken & Gravy, my fifth read from author Sherri Schoenborn Murray. A wonderful Christian romance set in the 1970's that was a thoroughly entertaining book that I very much enjoyed reading/listening to. The narrator did such a wonderful job of narration. If I see Sherri Schoenborn Murray’s name on the book I’m guaranteed a good read, this one was so good that when my wife walked in on me listening to it we finished the book together and I just finished downloading all of the author's books I own onto her Kindle for her to read.
