About this listen

The Aliens are invading! Or are they?

When Maggie Corey throws the Devil over her back in 1960s San Francisco, little does she know what she's set in motion, nor will she live to see the end of the matter. Her descendants find out, however, in this mosaic audiobook that tells its stories in a series of short pieces.

Editor reviews

A patchwork family portrait with Faustian underpinnings, Freeze Frames follows hippy heroine Maggie Corey through 1960s San Francisco as she unwittingly wages a war with the devil, to whom it turns out her drug-dealing beau has sold his soul. While Maggie is unphased by the scheming of the baffled Beelzebub, rendered more-or-less powerless by a society that no longer believes in him, the hellish vendetta follows Maggie's descendants far into the future. Lending her strains to this stew of interconnected sci-fi stories, performer Katina Kalin brims with soft-spoken good humor. The silky-voiced actress capably weaves together well-paced dialog sequences and imbues Katherine Kerr's character portraits with a prosaic intimacy.
