Critic reviews

"Gaiman has a deft touch for surprise and inventiveness, and there are inspired moments." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Gaiman again proves himself a perverse romantic, heir not only to Poe and Baudelaire but to the breathless Pre-Raphaelites....The collection also boasts lush prose...and a winning faith in the enchantment of stories. Expect the unexpected. Then savor the luscious chills." ( Kirkus)

Neil Gaiman, what a babe

The only thing better than reading Neil Gaiman is having him read to you.
I couldn't recommend it more, the short stories are the perfect length to complete on my commute, making my day a lot brighter

Magic!

I love being transported into these imaginative tales. They carry me along with them through the darkness and the light.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Great stories and great narration by the author.

The stories are mostly a little on the dark side, which isn’t my usual choice, but I love the imagery and strange places and characters I was taken to in Neil’s writing.

confusing

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really, in reality I skipped some stories.

Would you be willing to try another book from Neil Gaiman? Why or why not?

I have heard several and this does not rank high. I enjoyed the 1st story about sherlock holmes and the strange and weird Mr Alice and Mr Smith but the rest seemed to be beautifully worded rambling

If this book were a film would you go see it?

The sherlock holmes story yes and the Mr smith book but that would never get into film with that plot detail

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed about 20% or less of these stories.

Great Experience

A fun book but the chapters need to show story titles otherwise it's sometimes confusing.

Great collection of stories

Wonderfully read by the author. A good mix of stories some haunting, some fun and some heartwarming.

Fantastic

These stories blurred there way into my waking life, listening to them at night in bed I’m not sure what we’re dreams and what we’re the words of this master storyteller. How I enjoy the slip from one world to the next and the twisting together of awake and sleep. The myth and truth blend into my world and make the world around me a new brighter and wonderfully darker place at the same time, how I have taken these collected words into my being is so rich a thing that will forever tell people I meet (who want to hear) how amazing Neil Gaiman’s stories are.
