Summary
Bear shifter Callum Strathorn has a job to do. With his father's health declining, it's up to Callum to take over as Mayor of Bearden. When Leah Arden crashes her car near Bearden, Callum leads the first responders. As her wits return, she sees things that humans should never see. Forbidden things, like a man shifting into a bear.
Callum has no choice. To protect his town and his clan, he keeps Leah captive in Bearden while he figures out damage control. And if things couldn't get worse, the stubborn and aggravatingly sexy woman smells and tastes just like his fated mate.
Leah Arden lives a life haunted by secrets. She can't stay in one place for long or her past will catch up with her. With nowhere to turn, she doesn't trust anyone, until she meets Bearden's gruff but handsome mayor. When he lays down the law and forces her to remain in Bearden, she grows desperate to find a way to escape. Even if that means betraying the one man who makes her want to put down roots.
As Leah's secrets unravel, the danger grows, looming over her and all of Bearden. Callum's enemies are looking for weakness, and he handed them one on a silver platter. Can the town's alpha keep his people safe, especially the woman who is fated to be his?

Great story, well narrated
A great enjoyable story with great characters, an inventive idea of the hidden paranormal towns. I liked the storyline, Leah on the run crashes her car outside a town that does not exist, and is rescued by her mate the major, excellent idea but felt the ending was a bit rushed. The narrator is very good but her range for the male voices in limited, Overall well worth a listen and I will definitely be listening to more from this author and in this series.

Great start
The narration is really good also the backstory is fun. It also did a really good job of setting up the next book which I am about to listen to I think if you’re looking for a new series this is a great one to start with I hope the rest of the books become available on audible soon

Narrator
I think the female narrator did not do a good good with the male voices. They all sound sick or super old/elderly.

Great shifter series start
I really enjoyed this start to the series. It’s got a little spin to the traditional trope. I also really enjoyed the narration. She did a great job with the voices.

Started out good, but ending fell flat
Right away I was really into this book, it was well written and the narrator did an awesome job. But as I continued I felt like it was rushed. The main character didn't make any real sacrifices to end up with her man. There should have been a falling out before she got him. What she didn't shouldn't have been shoved under the bus like I didn't happen. I felt she should have had more trouble than she did. I also didn't care for the fact that her becoming a bear shifter was thrown in at the end. I didn't mind that she became a shifter but I was expecting more of a struggle. She should have gone through some trials in order to adjust to being a shifter. It honestly felt like the book was missing chapters. Its really too bad, because like I said it was well written and had a lot of potential in the beginning, I just wish the author hadn't rushed the ending.
