I have listened to the Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar and the tells of a Crossroads gambler narrated by DNegs. Maybe being British, but Victoria’s love of poker and her success makes it a brilliant listen. The best in my opinion. Watching Victoria and husband David Mitchell, on Would I Lie To You. David claimed to move book marks being read by Victoria. When asked by Lee Mack how many books do you read at the same time, Victoria answered 7 to 8. He asked the same question to David, he replied between 6 and 9. This audiobook is Victoria’s win at EPT London and her true love of this game of poker. It inspires me to do and try for better…. Quality listen thank you Victoria 👍

I soaked this book up like a sponge and wish she had written a dozen more. I lost myself in the places, the people, the players, the poker and the author’s perspicacity and personal pain. What a journey … and so droll

I’m a huge fan of the author. This is a very engaging, well written (very well read), entertaining story about the love of poker and the life that goes with it. Really enjoyed it - but I expected to.

I loved this, even though I don't play poker it was a really good listen. It didn't change my life or inspire me to play poker but I 100% enjoyed VCM's passion for her game, her attitude to life, the characters and the insights into another world. Just hope she writes another book.

This is one of several book written by Victoria, and I hope it’s not the only one brought to life by her narration.

You may have seen her on TV, a popular guest on panel shows along with hosting Only Connect. Maybe you’ve heard her radio shows such as Women Talking About Cars or Heresy. Whatever opinion you may have formed about Victoria, prepare to be enlightened and enriched by this snippet of her life.

I read the book in order to learn a little of the woman who had the exceptional taste to marry David Mitchell. It left me moved to tears at times, and aching belly laughs at others. Hearing her narrate her work, so many years on from its original publication, brought an extra depth as you can hear her smile as she relives the events she wrote about so long ago.

No spoilers, but this bite sized slice of Victoria’s life just left me longing for her to fill in the gaps. The more I learn, the more I am exposed to the hidden depths of this joyful, witty, intelligent and beautiful human being.

Give your ears and soul a treat and listen to this book. You may even decide that it was David who displayed the greatest of taste by marrying such a smart and passionate person.

Unsurprisingly, given Victoria's first-class degree in English from Oxford; the book is expertly written.
It is familiar and immersing but still cuts in with the slight technicalities of poker.
You do not have to be a poker player to listen, I wasn't - but this audiobook may have made me one...

Victoria has a voice I could listen to easily if she was only describing her favourite white paint but luckily she gives us the back story about her love of poker, a game which I love as well. The story is told well and has enough humour and pathos in equal measure.
