About this listen
It’s the end of the world… but that doesn’t mean things can’t get worse.
The Incursion Event has been announced, and sapient races from across the multiverse are invading the newly integrated planet Earth. These beings have decades, centuries or even millennia of experience living within The System and wield powers far beyond the mutated Beasts and mana-spawned Monsters Drew and his friends have faced in the past.
While the newly established settlement of Sanctuary flourishes, much of humanity is hanging on by a thread. The small communities that have managed to eke out an existence know nothing of the horrors that await them at the hands of the more gruesome Incursion races. Even hastily fortified cities stand little chance against their onslaught.
To survive in the face of this new threat, and save what is left of humanity, Drew and his family are forced to level up in The Baleful Lady’s own treacherous training dungeon. An experience that might be even more dangerous than the Incursions themselves.
Forced past his limits, Drew must learn to use his System-granted necromantic powers in frightening new ways… or accept that humanity’s extinction is inevitable.

Another good one.
Good book and worth a listen. I enjoy the world building that's happening and the way deities are portrayed so far. Understandable that side characters are just that, but a little more information on them would be nice too.

Buy it. You won't Regret it
This installment takes book 1 and expands on its story even more. To the point where I couldn't stop till I finished it.
What really stands out with this book is how human its main character is, Drew is such a good character and I absolutely love his development and self reflection while staying true to his ideals and morals but has no hesitation in killing those who mean harm to his people.
What it also does well is show the genuine relationship drew has with his wife, there's no cringy dialogue or flirting, you can really feel the romance even tho it's barely focused on, its seen just by their interactions with each other.
the unexpected cameo of a certain character from a different necromancer lich series was also funny and didn't overstay its welcome.
There are heartfelt and emotional moments you can't help but love.
the humor is well placed and adds to the characters friendship. Although alot of the side characters from book 1 don't get as much screen time post training, the focus being more on drew and his minions and city development. we get more scenes with the baleful lady and hades with POV changes while not frequent still keeps you interested.
This is a great book with great with a good MC and characters, paced well and gives you the build up and pay offs while also allowing downtime to show how the world is adapting, all brought to life by am amazing narrator Christian J Gilliand and I look forward to more of it coming.

well thought-out story that expands on book 1
In this series there is no black and white, only each character's truths and choices. No character feels forced and the grey area is explored with satisfying depth.
The MC is so well written and feels organic, eveyone is strugging to survive in this apocalypic world, I continually wonder what Drew will do next, even though I can sometimes already guess. And it's not a bad thing at all.
You get to know why Drew thinks and acts the way he does, Every choice is based on a very believable personality and a passion for developing their character and skills.
The narrator, Christian Gilliland, does an amazing job giving each character their individual voice. It can be difficult for a man to make the women sound distinguishable (and vice versa) but it's managed very well.

It gets better and better
This book and series is amazing! The story is fully fleshed out and feels organic. Unlike many in this genre, I find this story most realistic in an apocalyptic world. No one is a god of lucky encounters and everyone is struggling to survive.
The MC and his crew are normal people and their interactions are also normal.
Some of the religious aspects of the story is questionable but that is my personal preference and is no way representative of the book as a whole.
I blitzed through this story as if I was on steroids!
Onwards, book 3 awaits!
