Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The audiobook of Feet of Clay is narrated by impressionist and actor Jon Culshaw, best known for BBC Radio 4’s Dead Ringers, and for the Doctor Who audiobooks and dramas. BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'IT WASN'T BY ELIMINATING THE IMPOSSIBLE THAT YOU GOT AT THE TRUTH, HOWEVER IMPROBABLE; IT WAS BY THE MUCH HARDER PROCESS OF ELIMINATING THE POSSIBILITIES.'

Commander Sam Vimes of the City Watch is used to trouble. There's always trouble in Ankh-Morpork.

But this is new: people are being brutally murdered and there's no evidence of anything alive having been at the crime scene. At the same time, the most powerful man in the city has been poisoned and is clinging on to life by a thread.

It's a conundrum of a case. With the help of Captain Carrot, the only watchman who knows the law inside-out; Corporal Cheery Littlebottom, an unconventional dwarf with an eye for forensics; and Constable Angua, a werewolf with an excellent sense of smell, Vimes tries to solve the mystery.

But time is of the essence, for something extremely dangerous is loose in the city, its red eyes glowing in the night…

Feet of Clay is the third book in the City Watch series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.

The first book in the Discworld series - The Colour of Magic - was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Brilliant narration of a clasic.

Loved the depth and character given to my favourite (fictional) friends. A faultless classic Terry Pratchett.

Better story, not as many jokes

Not the funniest of Pratchett's book, but one of the more deeper stories in the Discworld series that doesn't have DEATH as the main character.

John Culshaw is perfect

Of course the story and writing are a work of genius. I’m so glad that John Culshaw brings it to life perfectly.

One of the best

Strong story and well worked characters (of course) this is one of my favourite Pratchett books. Good pacing and a few twists and turns told with an underlying sense of humour and a set of principles that the story makes not just ramned down the readers throat as in some fantasy series I have read. Great addition to the Watch stories

Brilliant!

If you already have bought these books you won’t be disappointed by Jon Culshaw, quite the opposite. He’s absolutely brilliant narrating these books and bringing the night watch to life in a way I didn’t think was possible.

Fantastic story and excellent narration

The new narrator of this series has really gotten to grips with the characters in this book. A much stronger and more confident performance in my opinion. I thought the voice of Dragon was really well done. The female and golem voices were good or much improved too.

The story has a fast pace and we get some nice insight into how Sam thinks and his past.

I recommend this book and look forward to the next. That said I still think the old recordings of the discworld books should be kept available on this site so people have the option to choose the version they prefer. The series especially the City Watch is old enough and good enough to merit the option.

The wonderful works of Pratchett

It’s an absolute delight to listen to Jon Culshaw breath life into Mr Pratchett’s works. He really does get the characters and the nuance of the dialogue.
I really enjoy these audios and have always loved the watch from the beginning.

A Great Story Brought to Life

The characters are brilliantly interpreted by Culshaw and Serafiniwicz, with Vimes and his Ankh-Morpork Watch’s rag tag assortment of officers expertly developed by two very talented story tellers.
Bill Nighy adding his monosyllabic tones to the footnotes creates hilarious interludes in a most entertaining listen.
One of the funniest and entertaining audiobooks I’ve listened to recently.
