Summary

How Far Would He Go To Keep Them Safe?

It was more than a break-in. More than a stalking. It was personal. When a stalker targets his family, journalist Jack Crittendon must uncover who the person is and what his motives are - if he is to protect the ones he loves. It will lead Crittendon into a world of behind-closed-door secrets and faith gone awry, as does his investigation of a missing pastor, whose apparent suicide is more than it appears. Each move Crittendon makes weaves him tighter and tighter into a web of lies, greed, hypocrisy, sin, and danger.

He believed he’d never give in to fear. But that was before. And holding on to his faith won’t be easy. Nor will keeping his family safe, and ending the terror. Because that might require him to step over lines he never dared to cross.

Critic reviews

"A truly captivating work of ratcheting thrills and surprising grace. You will not be able to put it down - or get it out of your head once you finally do." (Robert Liparulo, author of The 13th Tribe, The Judgment Stone, and Comes a Horseman)

'Annoying!' - Glad It's Over!

I nearly sent it back before finishing the first chapter, but because I was busy on something else, I continued listening. Then came a totally unexpected plot twist, and I found that I really wanted to know how it would end.

I found Jack and Pam to be incredibly irritating, and couldn't help but notice that the non-white characters were not as 'perfect' as they, or their other associates were; they had to have some 'flaw' which made them not as perfect as the other characters, thereby maintaining the 'us and 'them'.

I found the constant dipping into religion was annoying too as I found it to be unbelievable that they would live their lives in that way.

I found the narrator's voice annoying, though I think this was unfairly because it was mainly due to 'what' he was saying rather than 'how' he said it.

The ending was ok, and I've asked my sister to listen to tbe whole book to see if she comes to the same conclusion as me; she has already mentioned she does not like the narrator's voice...!

Not a book that I shall be revisiting in the future, but also not the worse book in the world. It was just ... annoying!

Refreshing- Excellent

Linda Kitt
It’s good to not only read a cliff- hanger, but not be subjected to sex, violence or bad language. I’ll definitely host this one for Book Club and listen to again with my husband as we drive. Will try another of Mape’s books next!

A blessing and a suspenseful story.

Great intertwining of two stories.
It’s always a little difficult to hear a man narrate the female characters but I did get used to it because I just wanted to continue with the story line.

I will be purchasing more of this writer and narrator’s work in Audible.

We all need love and forgiveness.

who but God knows where our lives will lead? The way we are raised, the events that happen, all work together to make us who we are. God works through every issue and circumstance to bring us to His Son and saving redemption. That is the moral of this book.

Excellent Christian Read

The twist and turns of this book all lead to Jesus. And excellent read that keeps you suspense from beginning to end. You wouldn’t want anyone to distract you from one chapter to the next.

I loved listening to this book. This is one of those you don't want to stop listening to. The story line is great. It was easy to separate the characters in the story. I would suggest this book to anyone.
