Summary

Love is in the heir in this royally good rom com – narrated by Kathryn Drysdale, also known as Madame Delacroix in Bridgerton.

From her bedroom in the Tower of London, twenty-six-year-old Maggie has always dreamed of her own fairy-tale ending.

Yet this is twenty-first century London, so instead of knights on white horses, she has catfish on Tinder. And with her last relationship ending in spectacular fashion, she swears off men for good.

And then a chance encounter with Royal Guard Freddie forces Maggie to admit that she isn’t ready to give up on love just yet… But how do you catch the attention of someone who is trained to ignore all distractions?

Can she snare that true love’s first kiss… or is she royally screwed?

Love is in the heir in this royally good rom com – perfect for anyone who likes relatable heroines (with great hair), hot and aloof book boyfriends (with great hats), near misses, almost kisses and a corgi or two.

A must listen, will have you hooked.

I have never found myself getting more frustrated at two main characters before. From the start I was invested in their story and the hands that fate dealt them left me desperate for my next walk so I could listen further and find out what happened next. Yes, on the face of it, it’s the book version of a classic chick flick but when you delve in it’s so much more, I learnt so much about the Tower of London without it feeling like a history lesson.
I would definitely recommend.

Sometimes you just need this kind of story!

This is the perfect book, accompanied by a nice cup of tea, you sometimes need just to escape from your own dreary life for a bit. The setting is especially fun for an ex royal guard and uniform nerd like myself.

Brilliant Book

This was truly an amazing read. Some of Megans words truly hit home. I cried and laughed so much. Thank Megan for letting me escape into Maggies world.

Cute story, invested in character

The story is cute, easy reading and you get emotionally attached to Freddie and Maggie, would recommend especially if your in a reading slump it’s bright, happy and puts you in a good mood

Great first book!

If you want romance, humour, a caterpillar to butterfly transformation, tied up in a bow with a little history, this is the book for you.

I initially read this book to support the author as I follow her on TikTok but I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging the story was. I loved watching Magie’s personal growth, being in her mind and seeing the Tower of London in a whole new light. The romance between Magie and Freddy was refreshing, I was really rooting for them by the end. The voice acting was also spot on, easy to follow and really engaging.

Really great first book and can’t wait to read all the books that follow.

P.S. it was beautiful to include such a thorough acknowledgments section. The people behind the scenes don’t often get their due.

Poorly Written

Having been fascinated with the Tower of London since childhood, it saddens me that I had to give up on this book after only 2 chapters. The over use of similies is both irritating and distracting and I'm surprised that it wasn't raised during the editing stage.

One of my favourites

it started of a little slow at the beginning but from chapter 2 I was captured.
I felt with Maggie, cried with her and laughed with and about her.
it is very well written and you can literally imagine life at the Tower in the 21st century and in the past.
I loved it that there were some historical facts put in too.
can't wait for the next book.....

Turmoil in the Tower

A friend told about this book and although my usual choice is crime and mystery I really enjoyed listening to to this novel, I liked the the humour, in fact I laughed out loud several times, it’s obvious Miss Clawson knows the Tower and it’s inhabitants very well, describing some of the the Beefeaters so well they became alive. Maggie is endearing in her self doubt and clumsiness and after all it is a love story with Freddy and the Tower. Beautifully narrated which added to the story. I look forward to the next book from this author. Well done.
