Summary
Beauty has been nothing but a curse to Penelope Snow. When she becomes a personal maid for a famous actress whose troupe is leaving Chicago to tour the West, she hides her figure beneath shapeless dresses and keeps her head down. But she still manages to attract the wrong attention, leaving her prospects in tatters—and her jealous mistress plotting her demise.
After his brother lost his life over a woman, Texas ranger Titus Kingsley has learned to expect the worst from women and is rarely disappointed. So when a young woman found in suspicious circumstances takes up residence with the seven old drovers living at his grandfather's ranch, Titus is determined to keep a close eye on her.
With a promotion hanging in the balance, Titus is assigned to investigate a robbery case tied to Penelope's acting troupe. The evidence points to her guilt, but Titus's heart divines a different truth—one that might just get Penelope killed.
An enchanting Western take on the classic Snow White fairy tale, Fairest of Heart will sweep you away from once upon a time to happily ever after.

Really Nice Retelling for Snow White
Oh my, that was really cute, I know I can always depend if Karen Witemeyer to get me out of a sour mood with her super sweet stories
This story is basically a retelling for snow white, but it's set in the west, when Penelope snow knows that her beauty is more of a cure than a blessing she resolve to always wear shapeless clothes and hide herself behind work, but the problem is she works for an actress, and one day she discovers Penelope beauty and that sends her into a jealous craze where she orders one of her men to strip her into her underclothes and tie her to a tree in the forest to die, but as Penelope was prepared to die rescue come in form of seven old men and one young handsome Ranger Titus, so she lives with them to hide from her employer Narcissa, but she accidentally becomes a suspect in a robbery crime across the state, and it's up to these men to protect her
I liked how the author used the original story to enhance the story we have, it didn't feel weird or forced, everything was smooth and flawless, I just wish if there was more intense scenes between Penelope and Titus, because most of there tension was happening when they weren't together, other than that it's a recommend from me

Absolutely amazing!
The author Karen Witemeyer is an fantastic writer and storyteller and Barbara McCulloh keeps us spellbound as she tells the story. I never did like listening to audiobooks until these two amazingly wonderful women have given me and my wife Dianne hundreds of hours of joy as they weave these fascinating stories. They make our hours of driving go by so quickly. Dianne and I want them both to know how grateful we are that they are using their God given talent to bless our lives so richly. We would love to meet them personally to let them know how we are enjoying their efforts. May God richly bless them and their families.

I couldn’t put it down, the characters all worked so well together as they carried out the plot the author marvelously put together! It’s a hit!

Fun Western Snow White Retelling
A Snow White retelling with 7 ranchers, a Texas Ranger, and a villain who loves mirrors? When I first heard about Fairest of Heart by Karen Witemeyer, I said sign me up.
One of my favorite things about these retellings is the opportunity to pick out similarities with the original. For example, in Witemeyer’s latest book, none of the “grandpas” is given as straight a name as the dwarves, but their personalities sure helped match them with their counterparts. And each of the grandpas was special in his own way, which Penelope quickly picked up on.
There was a lot of emphasis on appearance in this book. Both with Penelope and with Narcissa (the villainess). In fact, at times, it was so remarked upon and thought about that it took away from the moments when Texas Ranger Titus notices the below-the-surface characteristics of these women. Especially with Penelope.
Overall, this was a fun story with some tense moments peppered within the sweet and occasionally, the silly. Another enjoyable read from Witemeyer that has me wondering which fairy tale she’s going to tackle next.
Content warning: With the addition of the villainess’s perspective, Witemeyer’s usual spice level is cranked up a few notches, so you may want to vet this book before you pass it along to a daughter or younger friend. The author has said the other books in this series do not include the villain’s POV.
