Story
"Thank goodness you're such a plain child. You'll have to rely on your wits." So went the words of Grandma Bebe. And for all of my growing-up years, I scoffed at the beauty of my sister and what I saw as her meaningless existence. But my wits hadn't served me well in this instance, for here I was, in jail. And while I could have seen it as carrying on the family tradition (Grandma Bebe landed in jail for her support of Prohibition), the truth is, my reasons for being here would probably break her heart."

Summary
What would you do if a secret was causing your family to crumble?
Is there a secret terrible enough that it should never be revealed, not even if it was tearing a family apart? For more than five decades, Emma Bauer has kept one - carefully guarding it with all her strength, and for more than five decades, that choice has haunted her life and also the lives of her daughters and granddaughter. Is it too late for wrongs to be righted? Does Emma even have the strength to let the healing power of truth work in her family?
The story of four generations of women and the powerful effects their choices have had on their lives is at the heart of Eve's Daughters, an epic novel from author Lynn Austin. Grand in scope but tender and personal at the same time, it will please you as a fan of contemporary or historical fiction.
Exploring times from World War I to the 1980s, Eve's Daughters is an insightful look at mothers, daughters, sisters, and families that allows you to see a little bit of yourself through the characters' triumphs, struggles, and hard-tested faith.
Yearning for love, dignity, and freedom, the four generations of women must come to terms with the choices they have made. Healing comes when the past is forgiven, but only when they embrace God's forgiveness can they shatter the cycle that has ruled their lives over the decades.

I have been greatly blessed by this book, learning all over again of how deep the Father's love for us is.
I particularly love the way the narrator was able to switch accents from German to Irish to American.

Beautiful. Amazing. A blessing to listen to.
This was a beautifully written story of redemption and grace. A book everyone should read or listen to. A wonderful reminder that we can never be good enough to deserve God’s redemption, but God’s grace is big enough and His forgiveness is complete enough that it covers over our sins and He loves us anyway. I will listen to this again. One of my new favorites!

I enjoyed this book written by Lynn Austin. She did a fantastic job, the way she brought each character full circle while each one lived in a different time and place in history. This story has became my new favorite by Ms. Austin. I can’t say enough positive things about this story. I found it full of faith, also at the same time heart breaking. It’s a must read!!
