About this listen

It was indisputably love at first sight. But Victoria Lyndon was merely the teenaged daughter of a vicar...while Robert Kemble was the dashing young earl of Macclesfield. Surely what their meddlesome fathers insisted must have been true—that he was a reckless seducer determined to destroy her innocence...and she was a shameless fortune hunter. So it most certainly was for the best when their plans to elope went hopelessly awry.

Even after a seven-year separation, Victoria—now a governess—still leaves Robert breathless. But how could he ever again trust the raven-haired deceiver who had shattered his soul? And Victoria could never give her heart a second time to the cad who so callously trampled on it the first. But a passion fated will not be denied, and vows of love yearn to be kept, even when one promises the moon.

easy read

it was easy read but the story was never-ending towards the second half of the book and became quite boring

One of my favourites

This is one of my absolute favourite Julia Quinn novels! I've read it a couple of times and have waited for it to be available on Audible. Hopefully the 2nd Lyndon Sisters book will be available soon.

lovely story

A very romantic story which is an easy listen. Really enjoyed it. The narration was excellent and clear with great voices for each character.

Loved it!!

I can honestly say that I really enjoyed this romantic story. The characters are very likeable. The narration is great, Olivia Darnley did a wonderful job. i thought it was a new novel but didn't mind that it wasn't.
I put another Julia Quinn book in my wish list only to find from the write up that it is about her sister, pleasantly surprised, cannot wait for that one to be released.

Highly recommend.

Disappointing

I would say that this is the weakest novel by the author…I skipped theough the second half just to finish it, because so many scenes and characters were unbearable…especially the main male character

Completely toxic

I’m a great fan of Julia Quinn’s other books.
Which is why I was unpleasantly surprised to find that she has here offered a violently possessive stalker as the male lead. Macclesfield as he is written here is a man who would be far more likely to eventually kill Victoria than end up happily ever after.
