About this listen

When Constable Evan Evans discovers a beautiful shepard's cottage in the mountains of Llanfair, Wales, he and his fiancée are thrilled. It's only months before their wedding, and they are eager to begin their new life together. The cottage is in need of renovation, so Evan wastes no time before he begins making much-needed repairs.

But it turns out that Evan's discovery extends far beyond the beauties of a mountaintop view and a cozy dream house when Evan finds the skeleton of a child buried in the front yard. His professional inclinations soon get the best of him, and he cannot rest until he discovers the identity of the child.

The skeleton is decades old, but the discovery eerily coincides with the case of a present-day missing girl. Although discouraged by his fellow detectives, Evan dives into the mystery of both missing children. He soon realizes that if he can solve the decades-old death, he just might find a crucial insight into the whereabouts of the child missing in the present day.

Rhys Bowen's newest spellbinding addition to her critically acclaimed cozy series will win the hearts of fans and newcomers alike.

Loved it, great story, great narrator.

Great characters who we can relate to in a heart wrenching story which had us laughing one moment and then crying in the next moment.

Another cracker!

Another outing with Evan Evans, with multiple story lines, it's fast paced and never boring. Roger Clark is a great voice to listen to, but I must say I have to chuckle out loud when he does any accent other than Welsh. Bless him, but it's just like when I had books read to me as a child and dad was a bit rubbish as well. It makes it more soothing in a way!

You couldn'r have hired a Welsh narator?

The very least the narator could have done would a been a modicum of research to discover that Welsh ALWAYS puts the emphasis on the penultimate sylable. I wince everytime he mispronounces a place name.
I'll let him off the difficult LL sound - but really!

Evan's Gate

This is a sad story of child abduction and murder, using a historical missing child along side a current one. The current case turns everyone upside down trying to find this poor child, with the memory of a childhood friend going missing when Evan was young and him finding her remains in the garden of the cottage he is hoping to restore. Read brilliantly once again by Roger Clark.

boring

I did not enjoy this book, in fact I gave up at chapter 7! the story was longwinded and boring and the narrator had a loud, boring Welsh accent that was not enjoyable to listen to. sorry, because I usually love rhys bowen novels, but not this one.
