Summary

Detective Constable Evan Evans and his new bride, Bronwen, are settling into married life in their little cottage above the village of Llanfair when they meet the daughter of one of the village's newest families, a 16-year-old Pakistani girl named Jamila. Bronwen and Jamila are becoming good friends when Jamila finds out from her parents that they have arranged a marriage for her back in Pakistan. Evans tries to convince her family not to enforce the custom, arguing that Jamila is a normal Welsh teenager, but just as the tensions increase, the girl suddenly vanishes. Bronwen is distraught, but there's no trace of her.

At work, Evans is investigating the murder of a man shot to death through the open window of his home while eating breakfast. After the man's wife is jailed as a suspect, a second man is killed - and then a third - and Evans and his team are on the hunt for a serial killer. But they can't seem to find any connections between the three men....

In the surprising climax of Edgar Award finalist Rhys Bowen's 10th Constable Evans mystery, Evans risks everything to solve the murders and discover what happened to Jamila. All in all, the novel is a triumph for fans of Bowen's acclaimed Evans series and a wonderful discovery for new listeners.

disappointed from Powys

I have read all of the Evans books apart from the 10th Evanly Bodies. I could not find it on kindle so resorted to audible. I wish I hadn't bothered. I have absolutely loved all of the books and I suppose I had Evans voice in my head but the narrator was just not right. I found his voice so annoying and at one time I thought Terry Wogan was reading the book. He also sounded old. Evans is only in his early 30s. I am still listening to the book because I am invested in Evan's life but I am not enjoying it. Such a shame.

Evans as good as always

Looking forward to the next book and the audible version Roger Clark made a difference with his Welsh accent

Very disappointing

Disappointing. I usually like Evans, but this wasn’t very well thought through and alas pretty racist

Never want these stories to end.

I've enjoyed these books so much. the little twists and turns all the while learning about Evan. You feel like your in Wales Imagine the little pub. feel the Welsh pride. and then the murder mystery with it.

The Last One?!! Oh no!!

Sure enough, I have reached the end of the last book in the series. Always a sad event, I'm thinking I might re-listen to them all over again!

Another great story about Evan but it ended with an air that said 'we'll be back', rather than a reassuring 'they all lived happily ever after'. So I'm living in hope....
