Summary
Over the centuries, anything Ronan once found pleasure in has faded away to be replaced with blood, death, and the ever-constant battle not to give in to the more savage side of his vampire nature. Every time he wakes, he questions if that day will be the one he succumbs to the beckoning darkness.
As a born hunter, Kadence has been sheltered from the world for her entire life, never allowed to step beyond the walls of her home. It's not a life she's happy with, but it's one she's come to accept. Everything changes the day her father is slaughtered by a vampire and she escapes the walls that have kept her caged.
After she's attacked by the monster responsible for killing her father, Kadence is unsure how to react when she's rescued by Ronan. Though raised to hate vampires, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Ronan as she slowly begins to realize that everything she's been taught over the years may not be true. Now, she must decide what she wants more; Ronan, her family, or the elusive freedom she's finally found.
Contains mature themes.

Not bad
Not a bad story just thought it was slightly lacking maturity. I am not sure i will be listening to next in the series. If you want a story to pass some time and like a vampire romance of sorts then fine but if you are looking for anything a bit in-depth....nah It’s not the best out there - sorry

Loved it!
This was a break from my usual crime thrillers and I was not disappointed! I blooming loved it!
In a world of Vampires and Vampire Hunters, there are different types of vampires, those who fight their nature to be good and protect humankind and those who embrace the evil, blood sucking monster in them. There's an origin story as to how they came to exist, how they differ and how to tell the difference, which I really liked.
At the forefront, a love story between the male leader of the vampires, Ronan, and a female from a hunter group, Cadence.
They are fighting for the same side, but the Hunters don't realise and see the Vampire group as the bloodsucking their believe all vampires to be. Cadence helps to bridge that gap to bring them together to fight a common enemy, but it's not without its challenges.
The narration was excellent and very well paced. Performative but not OTT and easy to tell the characters apart.
Overall, a really enjoyable story and definitely one I will recommend, especially to anyone who loved Charlaine Harris's True Blood series.
