Summary

Gaia has awakened, and the world will never be the same again

Rockland Barkclay has had a rough year. On top of everything else, his father has just passed, and Rocky has to go it alone on their annual trip. But his plans for drinking alone in Algonquin Park are rudely interrupted by a sea of cosmic energy that governs the universe. Ether, the driving force of creation, has returned. Now a confused Rocky must navigate odd hovering messages to survive.

With the awakening of the very planet they reside on, humans are in a desperate fight to survive in an evolving world. If only Gaia hadn’t woken up so very...very...unhinged.

Annoying kid friendly swearing

Good enough book, but the fake swearing is really annoying. It'd be.much better if they just used mild swearwords instead.

Grate book but

Really enjoyed this book and Luke Daniels did a grate job narrating only reason its 4 and not 5* is the use of made up swar words it really broke immersion in the world as no one alive would speak like that.

other that that grate book and look forward to the sequel.

Only a couple of chapters in

Lots of skipping issues. Every few sentences. Kinda ruins it. Concept seems awesome, mostly enjoying it.

story and writing not up to par

writing may be dismissive and non descriptive. Like just saying "the beast was giant it swiped and then the person killed the thing" instead of building realistic combat.

further there is little depth to the story. The book is below average.

I'm sorry, when I first opened it did a literal double take this is not Nick podehl but they have very similar voices.

Cliche, even for litRPG

As I said in the title, this book is super cliche even for litRPG, which is really saying something.

Mediocre

Found the book just about engaging enough to listen to 80% of it. It'll do if you're really desperate for a litRPG-style fix but it is by no means a good story and there are a fair number of cringe-worthy moments. There's a hint at some interesting bits of story and world/character building but nothing comes together in my opinion. The narrator did a good job though can't really fault him at all.

that was.... strange

this audiobook goes to some very strange places. the main character is unreasonably angry a little too frequently and some of the things that happen are a little odd. the PG13 swearing really shouldn't be in there, either swear like an angry Viking or don't bother at all, it's jarringly out of place.

all that being said it improves very significantly as the story progresses and I will be buying book 2 to continue the story.
